air foil on pickup

Has anyone had experience with an air foil on thier pickup
pulling a fifth wheel? We have a 3685FL and a 2500 Ram diesel.
Thanks
Glenn

Been told by very good authority that they are not needed for the Montana or Mountaineer. Due to the very design of the front caps they act as there own air foil.

And if an air foil is mounted too far from the trailer it actually creates a greater air disturbance. Usually having it mounted on the cab of a pick up is TOO far from the trailer. Take a close look at those on an 18 wheeler. They are nearly against the trailer.

Trailer Life had a article about the air foils. The article stated the deflectors served no useful purpose when towing a trailer. I had an experience transporting a new Cougar 5vr from Indiana to Colorado. The nose had V shaped groves, wide on top narrow at the bottom, on each side. In the middle of the low end of the groves on each side were two lights. In the middle of the lights there was a mirror. It was beautiful hitching up you can see your hitch in the mirror ,did not have a chance to use the lights. The groves were another story. Some where in Iowa in head wind two fold up chairs in bags and three one gallon jugs of water were blown out of the pickup bed along with any dust or dirt. I thought the lights and mirror were a great idea but the V groves are not,I burned some extra diesel. Front caps make all the difference.

I had a wing on my 95 pickup before I went diesel. You won't see any fuel mileage improvement, but it sure deflects the bugs off the middle of the front cap! Little swirl of water up over the camper looks awesome while driving in the rain too! Ha!
