Rock chip

After I got all the Canada bugs off the front cap I noticed a small rock had taken out a small piece of gell coat. Anyone have a fix for this? Maybe I'll have to go to a repair shop. Dealer said they do not do this kind of repair.

Hi we just got back from the Rally last night and I'm at work right now. Still I did want to sneak in and post a possible solution. A friend of ours has a Bathroom Fixture repair business. He does many fiberglass and gel coated showers/tubs etc. He looked at ours prior to the argument Dick had with McDonald's to take care of a similar condition on the front of ours. I'll bet any of these kinds of businesses could do the very same repair. Nice thing is they actually come to you instead of you having to take your Montana in.

Bob has lots of fiberglass experience and he says if it is a small chip you can mix up some catalized gel coat in the same color as yours, put in with putty knife, let it harden, sand lightly with 600 grit or finer wet/dry sandpaper and polish with rubbing compound and then wax. If it is a bigger hole/chip you can build it up with bondo layers and then apply the gel coat in the steps mentioned above.

Gel coat repair is common with boaters. Overtons.com has a gel coat repair kit.
