The one thing that my wife has complained about is how small the freezer is in our rig.So to free up some space I went out and bought a portable ice maker.The brand is "edgestar"camping world sells one also but I wasn`t going to spend 300 bucks to free up some space.the one I bought was $170-still to me a bite pricey,but it made my wife happy.You just plug it in add some water and you have your first batch of ice in under 10 minutes.it has 3 different size cube settings.When the ice basket fills up it stops.Its 17 inches high-11 inches wide-and 17 inches long.Now I just have to figure where I am going to put "this thing I really didn`t need but made the wife happy thing"

I have found that they make ice real good, but does not keep ice very well. I guess the trick is to use it up as it is being made by keeping an ice chest going full of sodas. I do not use the desk for a desk. So under the "beverage center" is where we keep the ice maker.

We bought the Camping World Ice Maker and are thrilled with it. We did not leave it in the 5er when we came home we bought it to the house and use it when we have the kids over. We are really pleased with it.

Do any of you have a plastic type taste if you don't use a lot of ice...we use a fair share but as stated the ice doesn't keep very well. This in turn causes the melted ice to recycle into the plastic bin below...is there a way to get rid of the plastic taste...I have found if I make ice and pull it out fresh before it melts I don't have the taste...I can continue to do this but was just looking for an easier way. Thanks

I would like to figure out a way to mount over the washer/dyer in the closet. Has anyone thought of this concept?

Its weird you posted that.because I was thinking the same thing.It would be the perfect place for the ice maker.Right now I put it in the bed room closet when traveling.When in use its on the counter next to the fridge.Kind of a pain in the butt to be moving that thing around.i`ll need to put on my thinking cap to see about mounting it some how in where the w/d is.

Well Folks, I want an Ice Maker..please tell me what you bought and why. Do I have to ventilate the laundary room if thats where I put it? Do have to plumb dains and water? Please help...thanks

you don`t have to do any thing but plug it in.No drains to connect.Its all self contained.At the end of your stay their is a drain plug on the bottom side to drain the water out.

Harleyrider, thanks for the info on the ice maker, I will check into it-- sounds too good to be true and it makes ice that quick. If it can do that in this hot Texas heat it will be well worth it.

We bought ours at Menards for 170. I dont't know how we got along without it. It Makes enough ice to keep two coolers going and still have ice for drinks. The brand name is Sunbeam.

i think I figured a way to keep the ice maker where the washer/dryer is.On top of my w/d is a metal rack.if I place the ice maker on the rack and run a ratchet type strap over the top of the ice maker right behind where the lid opens and strap it to the rack i think it will stay in place.and if i`am right it will be running off the same 20 amp circut as the washer/dryer.of course I`ll have to invest in a nice little ice bucket but thats ok by me.

Sounds like a great idea putting in the laundry room. Were not going to use it for anything any. There is water and electricity and a drain, should work real well...Good idea Jack

I have researched the portable ice maker and found three different brands 1)Danby 2)EdgeStar 3)Sunpentown They all are in the same price range around $200. Does anyone have a feed back on which brand is the best. What brand does Camper World carry? I would appreciate feed back on this ASAP.

We have a 3295. Can't put the portable ice maker in the laundry because we have a stck washer/dryer. Thought about putting on the desk when not traveling and under the desck when on the road. The dining room slide would keep it from walking. Any ideas other places it could be placed?

We keep our Icemaker in the basement while travelling and plug it in the outside recepticle and keep it under the 5er when we are on a site. Works great for us.

Eric....really out of my comfort zone here but I looked at the book and it says 2.3 amps. Hope that is what you need. We have the one from Camping World (it is on sale this month for 299) and love it. It has amazed us with the amount of ice it makes even on 90 degree days.
