We live almost as close to one another here in the Fraser Valley as we will when we arrive in Yuma in February. We are staying at Cocopah because of the large off leash dog area.

Will perhaps stop by for a visit and check out the dog area, our doberman is used to the wide open spaces of an acre of land and all the trails here in our area near the Vedder canal.

Enjoy your time in Yuma

As a seasoned Yuma snowbird said last year when we arrived....."Welcome to Yuma, where the women can't get pregnant and the men look like they are!" I hope we make it back this year, but due to some family surgery the schedule is up in the air.

Your dog will love the "Piddle Patch" at Cocopah - we have stayed there several times previously. Hopefully we will be back at The Palms by the time you get there --had to return home for medical reasons ----- . Look forward to meeting up with you -- either in Yuma or back home in Fort Langley.

If you see a Big Foot TT down there in a few weeks, say Hi to Jeff and Barbara for us. Their hosts here at Boyce Thompson at the moment, but their leaving to spend the rest of the winter down there soon.

Southern Arizona is going to be 1 of our destinations for the winter escapes can we get a little info on the area? Would like to stay at a place that is safe until we can get a feel for the place and then thinking about boondocking in the future. Any help would be appreciated!

I was surprised at the number of lots that were for rent in the foothills area last year. It is a regular subdivision with permanent homes and RVs in it. Last year, you could rent a place on a lot for $350/mo plus utilities. It was a nice clean area and considerably cheaper than actual RV parks. It certainly is a nice area to spend the cold months. I don't know how you would arrange renting space without going there and calling the number on the "For Rent" signs. I am sure someone else more knowledgeable will jump in with more information.

Our parents have a home in east Yuma near where the rental lots are. To spend the season there, a rental lot would be best.

Our problem with a week or two was that we are not allowed in the 55+ parks and had to deal with the four that would take us: Yuck to all four!

Michael and Kat-- You just have to get old like the rest of us OR go to Mexico and get a fake ID showing your older than you are! Back to the subject-- we'll be down in the area in January and February so we may just take you up on your invitation to drop in!

We're in a rental lot in east Yuma (Foothills) and the cost here is $350 per month including electricity. It's full hook-up and just as good as any of the "resorts" although the RV parks are certainly better for the social aspect. The Foothills is a very safe location filled with folks just like ourselves plus a few local residents.
