Surge Protectors

HI All Things just keep coming up,that need anwsers. I was told I should use a surge protector,at the site before my shore line is hooked up. This will protect the appliances and such in case of a power surge. My question is my montie has a 50 amp shore line is the surge protector important? Do I buy a 50 amp or will a 30 amp do as well? thanks for your time and Wisdom. Randye

I'd go for the 50 amp. If you find yourself in a 30 amp space, plug the power cord into the surge protector, the surge protector into the adapter cord and the adapter cord into the campground power pedastal.

If you buy a good 50amp surge guard, it works on a 30amp power source, too.

The reason you need a 50 amp, is that the 2 legs of 120 volts in your electrical panel both need protection. A 30 amp will serve only one side, or leg of the power supply.
