I agree with Glenn about the difficulty of relying on a campground directory's ratings. In addition to the valuable information on this forum, one resource we use is a web site:

It has a US map with many (although not all) RV parks denoted. It also includes links for most of those campgrounds to the campground web site, to RV.Net campground reviews, and to campgroundreviews.com. It is an easy-to-use planning tool.
