washer and dryer suggestion

Getting things ready for FTing after ret. August 13 Our rig needs a washer and dryer and we have room for a side by side set. We have seen Whirlpool and Splendide at our local RV store, is Splendide the choice of most FTers.

I have the Splendide. I went with them because they are 120 Volt AC. I can not say if the Whirlpool is 120 V or 240 V. You would have to do some special wiring in the RV for 240 V and they would only work when hooked up to 50 amp service. Mine will work when on 30 amp service, I just have to do power management.
I have received great support from Splendide service center.
Good luck and safe travels.

We have splendide and would buy from them again. As John says, service is great and the machines are well designed.

Splendide for us too. Service is awesome. Will run on 30 AMPS as H. John Kohl points out, with careful power monitoring/management.

I love my all in one, having two machines just takes up twice the space. It is all in your outlook, your lifestyle, your patience level. You know, your mileage may vary.

I have no trouble keeping up with the laundry, do most of it in the evening, or as necessary. I use the space for the second machine for storage of other necessities. (Like computer gear.)

The last 3 RV s I owned had the Splendide combo units, they are more convenient than dragging soap, quarters and dirty clothes to a laundromat
The only problem I have is the darn thing won't fold my shirts.

x3 on the Splendide. Here's a tip I've learned along the way ~ get two of those ketchup/mustard squeeze containers (i.e. rubbermaid or tupperware) put some detergent in one and softener/water in the other - makes it much easier to add both to the small compartment in a small space.

Splendide 7100XC and we love it! It dries without having to be vented but I don't know if someone who is full-timing would like it or not. Have fun choosing!

we found that since I work for Lowes in appliances that most to all dryers are 240 and need to run a new power line the splendide all in one alone with the WP stack were way to much money so we when with this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Haier-Comp...-Dryer/8112370 for $500.00 I can buy 2 for the same price as one splendide all in one we have had the haier for about 3 years and it is still going strong

We are on our second Splendide...great machines. FWIW, vented works (dries) better than not vented.

I just have to clarify something because a few people have asked me...

The vented version of the Splendide (2100?) does dry faster than the non-vented 7100XC but I the 7100XC does dry perfectly well...it just takes a while because it uses cold water dripping on a steaming hot inner drum to condense the water. The good thing about it is no venting is necessary and it does NOT add a single bit of moisture to the trailer!!! I hang dry most of my clothes at home so I do that in the trailer as well. So for us, and the limited amount of trips we make, it is perfect. However, if you like to machine dry and want it done quickly than do not get the 7100XC! Have a great time choosing! It is so exciting that you are getting ready to go full-time! Have fun!

Splendide 2100 for us. Our dealer did recommend vented over non vented due to possible moisture concerns, but many folks are happy either way. It is an excellent product and runs quietly. Just don't be in a hurry and wait until and hour before you need clothes as the combined cycle time can be lengthy. Well worth the investment to be self contained.

We have been full time for just over 2 months and plan on continuing for at least the next 4 or 5 years. We read a bunch on the forum about this same issue before we decided. We went with Splendide vented. We only wanted to give up a little space so we had the single all-in-one unit installed. The DW loves the single unit because she can throw a load in and not worry about being there to switch it from the washer to the dryer. Of course the biggest "WOW" factor is simply not having to go to a laundry mat! I was a little concerned about the vent install because I had noticed a couple 5ers with ugly cheap looking chrome vents sticking out the side in our travels. Camping World in Madison WI installed a higher end white vent that blends in with the side of the Monte so well you don't even notice it.
