Furnace
I have a 2017 3160rl. My furnace runs for about 15 minutes then turns off. About a minute later it turns back on again. Anybody have a similar problem or suggestions?

I have the same year and model, mine does not do that. When yours kicks back on does it stay on until the temp is reached.

I'm not sure yet. I bought a thermometer this afternoon so that I can see where the temperature is at when it turns off. This morning it was chilly in the trailer, so my thought is it was not getting to the property temp.

The wall mounted thermostats tend not to be very accurate - checking with a thermometer is a good idea. We have to set our temp about 5 deg high on the heat side.

I'm testing it now and mine appears to be about 3 degrees off. The heat pump is set to 70 and when it turned off the thermometer said 67. I'll test the furnace in a bit, but don't want to run it all night if it's going to run all night.

So is the ORIGINAL post/question about the furnace or the latter mentioned heat pump?
I noticed this weekend using my heat pump, it seemed to cycle on and off pretty consitently, more than I thought it should. Maybe I will also get an external thermometer to check the actual temp in the unit vs the thermostat.

My question is about the furnace. I don't think it should cycle back on after only being off for a minute.

I agree with you, that seems too soon to cycle back on. My furnace performed flawlessly this past weekend, normal cycle times I`d say, but it almost sounds like a small jet engine when running. Doesn't help that it is right beside our bedroom, and this is our first 5er,so I`m thinking this is normal.

Mine is also next to the bedroom. Noise wasn't bad, I just couldn't sleep thinking something was wrong.

Love my HP down to about 38 degrees, except it does nothing to warm the floors. Same with the fireplace. What is weird, both HP and furnace use the same thermostat and the HP is about 3 degrees of and the furnace 4 - 5. Furnace is under the bath and close to the bedroom but noise is not a problem. If anything, cycle times seem long. Although we use the 5er all but summer months we rarely see temps below 32.

My thermostat is the same way. I tried the furnace a few minutes ago and it seemed to work correctly. I'll try it again tonight after the temps drop a little more. It's supposed to get down to around 39 tonight. If I have any more problems I'll try the heat pump and hopefully it can keep up.

The heat pump will keep up to 39 easily. With the bedroom door open the fireplace will assist as heat rises.

Don't the thermostats have a 'sensitivity' adjustment? My home one does and I think I remember the Montana also having an adjustment. Check the manual.

Robert, our unit will do this quick cycle if the rig is pretty cold and then I turn the furnace on for the first time or turn the heat up (we sleep with it at ~60 and then turn it up to ~67-68 once we are up and around). It seems it shuts down due to the air getting warm but then quickly cools off and restarts due to all the cold mass of the rig chilling the rig quickly, especially the wall the thermostat is mounted on. Until everything equalizes, it seems to cycle quicker. Not sure if this is similar to what you are seeing but what we experience.

You might want to pull the T-stat from the wall and see how big the hole is in the wall. Remember on ours the hole was almost as big as the T-stat, just covered the hole with Duct Tape and helped stop the cold air coming up inside the wall from the basement.

My unit is in for it's 2nd year warranty check and the technicians are troubleshooting the heater unit as I type. Apparently in testing the heater unit it cycled on and off and didn't meet their test standards. Won't know the results for a week or two.

Thank you all for the comments. I will check the the hole behind the thermostat. The heat pump worked okay last night, but it's supposed to be colder tonight, so I'll try furnace again tonight. It was cold in here when I initially turned it on, so I'll let it cycle a few more times and see if it works better when the air equalizes.
