Bathroom Heat
Our 2955RL bathroom has only the overhead powered vent. No heat or AC. We try to keep the door closed, mainly because the door is in the way, but it does get cold, and it gets hot in there.
I just noticed the 4" flex furnace duct runs right under the bathroom to get to the bedroom (in the basement). Has anyone ever cut a vent into the bathroom and tapped into this duct? Wouldn't do anything for AC, but DW would be happy with some heat. Little nervous about floor support.

Do it!
Shouldn't be a problem at all. You can probably order a round plastic vent from your dealer, mine has one in it. You could get a Tee from a duct work supplier in Denver, block off 1/3 of the main run to the bedroom, and it will split off air to the bathroom.
Don't put a rectangular vent in, a small 3" or so Keystone plastic one, will work fine for the CFM you need there.
Good luck.
Sue and I are going to the bike trail downtown today, I'm switching the bike rack from the Monte to the truck and away we go!

Brad, our 3000RK has a heater duct in the floor between the toilet and the outside wall. The register is the same as the A/C registers in the cieling. I had the panel covering the docking station in the basement off the other day and noticed the duct work to the bathroom is the same flex duct thats on the rest of the trailer. On my unit the floor of the bathroom is easily accessible from the basement. It looks to me like it would be an easy fix.

Brad,
In out 2006 2955RL there is a heat duct/vent in the corner by the stool, it gets WAY warm in there. I think you should be able to cut one in too.

An alternative to cutting into the floor and the heater ducting would be to vent the door. That is, put a vent grill in the door of the water closet. While it will not produce the heat the direct vent would do, it will vent heat/cool air into the bathroom and it will be better that without any vent.

Our 2002 2955 has a heat vent" gets to hot" so I purchased a vent cover that you can close.
I have all ways thought a loovered door would be a good Idea

Isn't that strange, the 2002 2955RL had a vent, my 2003 doesn't, and the later ones do. Wonder why Montana went back and forth on that?

Hey Brad, maybe Keystone didn't flip flop on that, maybe when they built your '03 they were running short on time and left it out so they could go home on time. LOL ...Naw, just kidding, it is a good question. Maybe they got a lot of negative feedback when they quit doing it so they started again. Just a thought.

Lonnie, hahaha - you're right, maybe it's just MY 03 with no vent. Sounds like I'll have to find an adjustible vent to avoid getting too much heat or I won't be able to stand it, or louver the door (I'm not much for carpentry). OR, maybe I'll just get her one of the electric heated seats like they make for the stick house (I can handle electrical).

Well, my 3255RL doesn't have the heat duct. Guess I may be considering adding one after an up coming Oct trip to Point Judith, RI.

Add us to the record: our 2002 2955RL HAS the heating vent in the toilet area, but no airconditioning. It will definitely get too hot in there when the heat is running and even when there is need for air conditioning. No big problem, just an objective report.

Dave,
The AC is not easy to overcome, and it does get HOT in there in the summer. Do you feel your heat vent was beneficial on your trip out here with a little cooler weather, or was it toooo hot and you ended up blocking it off?

I am glad you brought this up. I have been trying to decide if I want to add a vent or change the door. I have a 330-RKBS and the water closet seems like a lot of wasted space. I would rather they left the commode in the bedroom area and not made the box closet. I know some people think that’s crazy...unless your Closter phobic like me.lol

Brad,
There seem to be more and more of us "Daves" around here, but I will answer for my part.
Yes, I think it is generally better to have the heat outlet in the toilet area--when it is really cold. You can always open the vent. We have never found it to be necessary to block off the outlet.
And, for our part, we much prefer that the entire bathroom be separate from the bedroom. That is almost a "no sale" matter for us. We are keeping our 2002 model longer than we might have if Montana/Keystone had not dropped the very nice wooden sliding doors we have between the bedroom and the bath area.

David and Shirley,
Yep, you were the "Dave" I was looking for. Thanks for your input. I figured you probably had the best comparison as you have been in the same climate.
I'm with you on the water closet privacy. My old fleetwood had bathroom doors at each end, but the john was open to the shower & sink. I enjoy brushing my teeth without sharing the space with one of the kids using the bathroom.
