Toyota PU
Has anyone seen the latest Toyota advertisement for their pick ups? It is the one where they wind around a tower to the top pulling a trailer of bricks or something. Wonder how they got that thing down?
I'd hate to have to back that thing down that tower. But it is a very interesting and effective ad.

Speaking of twisting and turning, we took an on ramp to US 1 in the Brunswick Maine area a few days ago. It was a real corkscrew turn, but the best part was after you were already on the on ramp, you come around a stand of trees and bushes and find a sign no more than ten feet in front of a foot bridge warning of its 13' 6" height! We both wondered at the same time how anyone with a rig taller than that was going to back out! Entertainment is where you find it.

Phil,
I'm with you. As I watched this thing my very thought was that this was all being done with computer graphics. But no sooner did I think this I saw a message on screen declaring this thing to be the real McCoy! I'll try to watch more carefully in the future. It certainly looks real but then so do some of the computer graphics.
Later,
Dennis

I haven't seen it, but you reminded me of the old GM ads with the Silverado that had quad steering, where the guy pulls a trailer in a figure eight, then backs it up it up in the same figure eight. I sure wish they had developed that for the bigger trucks!

Tom S.,
Yeah I remember that! I'm with you. I wish they'd developed that for other brands and bigger trucks. My 450 turns like a battleship!
Later,
Dennis

Very interresting truck, if you go on you tube you can watch the making of the spiral ramp and then the commerical. I'll bet money they used that crane to bring all that stuff down, the driver said he went up I think 16 or 17 times and each time was just as scarry. thanks for the interresting topic.

I think this is what Trailer Trash was talking about. I didn't realize the commercial was so old. I did see the crane with a trailer attached to it. I bet that is how they got both pickup and trailer down that way.

All advertisements go to the extreme, usually something flashy to catch your eye.

Marketing is everything and most folks believe it. We always see the truck sliding sideways through the mud and I like the one where they drop a load of steel in the bed of the truck.Of course that is why we purchased the truck. We slide sideways through the mud all the time...
