Do You Have Power Steps On Your 4x4 Truck?

We are considering adding on some power steps to a new 4x4 truck.

Does anyone have some and if so, which ones?

Do you like them?

Any problems with them?

Thanks for the input.

We have them on our Dodge MegaCab and love them. They are by
Amp Research. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Margee I wanted to get the power steps for our truck but they were pretty expensive. Sometimes I wish we would have gotten them I heard they are lower to the ground and easier to step up on.

I would think they would provide more clearance when retracted. They also give the truck a different look, and then of course there's the cool factor.
But pricey!!

BTW, I do not have powered steps. I have Westins and they have a cool factor as well.

The step-bars on our current truck are fairly high off the ground and that makes it somewhat difficult just getting up to the step-bar. There really should be two-step-bars for getting up in the truck.

I had heard that the power bars come down lower and it makes for getting into the truck so much nicer. The new truck we are looking at is even higher up than our current truck and I am just not looking forwards to getting up in it unless there's an easier way.

The power step bars are currently about $1150 a set.

Looks like the AMP Power Step is the way to go. They ARE expensive, but are cheaper and less painful than a knee or hip surgery. On the truck we bought, they would extend down 13" below the level of the doorsill plate. Much, much nicer than the level of the NERF bars on the old truck.

The cost of $1149 includes steps for the entire length of both sides of the crew cab, and are equipped with led lighting.

Unless you are a "DIY" type person, installation is averaging out at $350.

We have a business license so I am still checking if there is a cost difference in purchasing through the business.

I did research the Bestop brand of Power Step and they are cheaper, but are so different in their drop from the doorsill (6") and in how they operate that I won't consider them.

Thanks for the input. Glad to hear that Capt Kidd and VMoore1's son love their AMP Power Steps.

Now, I just have to convince my husband that these are a necessity. Piece of cake.

If you can afford them, I say go for it!! Sounds like they will work just fine for you and you've done your homework. Good luck and enjoy!!

We bought the AMP Power Steps and they were delivered yesterday. Just have to find time to install them as we'll do our own install.

Will give an update on how we like 'em and if any installation problems after we get them on, which might not be for up to a week still.

I thought I should report back in here about the power steps we installed on our new Dodge 4x4 truck. We purchased the AMP power steps and installed them ourselves.

I am happy to say the steps are fantasic! They extend low enough so that stepping up from the ground to the step and then up into the truck is a breeze. They also come with a light kit that illuminates the step when it's extended.

I certainly wish we had installed them on our previous Dodge. Even though both of us are considered tall, he's at 6' and I am 5'10", we'll never have another truck without them.

Margee.

Power steps came on my new Ford. I might not have bought them, but glad I have them. They do come down lower and makes stepping up into the truck easier. Just watch out for your shins and don't stand too close.
