automatic hydraulic leveling systems

Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with automatic hydraulic leveling systems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks..

Have the Level-Up System and love it, don't need to carry a lumber yard around all the time.

We've been using the Big Foot Leveling System for a year and a half. Works like a dream. Di

OK, I've got a question, did you add leveling system or did your rig come with it. We have a 2011, 3100 RL and was thinking about adding levelup system, will be close to factory in July. This answer I received from Keystone/Montana.
"I would not recommend attempting to add the Level-Up system to a unit that did not come with it installed. The unit's frame must be reinforced at points before the rest of the unit is built onto it. This cannot be done on a unit that is already completed."
Now what? Guess I stick with old slow electrics.

Talk to Lippert, they make the frame and the Six Point Level Up System.

Since most everyone of the folks here who have the Six Point Hydraulic Leveler system had it installed at the last Fall Rally on their existing (completed) unit, *AND* installation of the levelers is going to be offered again at the upcoming Fall Rally, I say whoever you talked to isn't too knowledgeable.

I agree with the previous post. The installs are done at TrailAir in Goshen, and all the early installs were on existing units. Check out the flyer posted on the Fall Rally site, there is a flyer from Lippert for the Level-Up system.

I think keystone is giving a "legally safe" answer. I have a retrofit LevelUp system on my 2008 Big Sky. For me it is a day and night difference in setting up and hooking up with the auto leveling system and the old guess and stix system.

Keystone doesn't stand behind any retrofit upgrade. Why should they? They don't want any liability for items they didn't manufacture or assemble. However, Lippert does warranty their work and they built the frame. Keystone doesn't stand behind my second A/C unit manufactured by Carrier and added by the dealer, but the dealer does. That is why I purchased an extended warranty.

I am new to the "BIG" trailer scene and for years have used the blocks of wood, and the dependable orange leveling blocks on my other RVs . I now have a 08 Montana Mountaineer 31RLD travel trailer. Is the Lippert 6 way leveling system as good as the company says? I would also like the the know what is the cost with installation of such a system. Thanks Mike

I have a Big Foot. This is a four point system. The front jacks get ripped out and replaced in the exact same spot with two hydraulic units. The rear hydraulics go directly behind the rear tires. If the frame can't handle that then it can't handle the suspension or the standard jacks.

Of course the standard frame doesn't do too well with the suspension when it's the factory applied Moryde but this is due to the hack installation of the Moryde at the factory, not a weakness of the frame. I'd say any thing can be installed wrong but if you stick with the pros in the aftermarket you won't go wrong.

Before we bought our Big Sky with the Lippert 6 point leveling system we went to a RV show in Sacramento Calif and were looking at the Cedar Creek with the Lipert 6 point system and a Cameo with the Big foot 4 point system. The Cameo sales people done there best to tell me the Lippert system was not any good and the Big Foot was the best on the market. After many hours on the internet and visiting RV sales yard I was convinced the Lippert system with 6 jacks was the way to go. After lookun at the Big Sky with the Lippert system I was sold, the Big Sky was the one we wanted. We ordered the Big Syk and love it.

We had the BigFoot system installed in January, 2011. A week after we had it installed we embarked on a three month 6400 mile trip and absolutely loved the system. We have a 2006 3400RL. Since we do a lot of moving from cground to cground the auto levelers make it simpler and quicker to setup and also to leave. So far we've had no problems. Rick from the Michigan factory location has been a big help when I had any confusion. The system was a big help recently when I had to repair the underbelly covering. It was much easier to lift the entire trailer to give me adequate room underneath to do the repairs. I still carry short sections of 6x6 timbers and heavy duty portable hydraulic jacks to support the trailer when I'm under it.

If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely have a hydraulic jack system installed. I like ours, but I'd bet that most systems are pretty good.

In answer to the price issue, I got a special deal associated with last years rally in Goshen. A call to TrailAire will get you the current pricing on the LevelUp system.

If you plan to attend the Fall Rally in Goshen, there may be a special price available. I don't think you will see last year's special pricing again.
