I do not disconnect the umbilical but we do connect the rig to the park's electric. If we were not connected to electric I still leave it plugged in because the Ford will not feed juice to the rig unless the engine is running. I don't know about other brands. To test this, disconnect your battery while the umbilical is connected. Try the landing gear. If a Ford TV, there will be no juice to the landing gear. Start the truck's engine and you'll have juice. If yours has power with battery disconnected, then I'd disconnect the umbilical.

We're with all the other "hookers". We lower landing gear and rear stabilizers and come close to level fore & aft and side to side. Also usually unplug umbilical.
