Monument Valley
We are finally here in Arizona after fifteen days of easy, relaxing travel from Fl. Presently we are at Moonmeadows RV Park in St. Johns,AZ. We plan to head up to Monument Valley for a few days before we turn south to Sedona. There are two campgrounds I have seen listed, one at Tuba City,AZ and one at Tayenta,AZ. Does anyone have any info or suggestions on the two campgrounds or any other ones?

We just got back from there. Fascinating place. We actually stayed at Goulding's RV Resort, which is just across the line in Utah. It's a nice place with a good restaurant and store. They can also take reservations for Indian guided tours of the valley (recommended, but the half day is plenty).
Most of the other RV parks in the area are pretty grim. Good luck, and enjoy your stay!

Another vote for Gouldings. It's in a very nice setting and is close to the visitors center.

I'll second the recommendation on Goulding's. And the guided tour.
Happy trails.................

Redrover98,
If you haven't already done the Monument Valley thing then by all means Gouldings! Very nice park. Be prepared for some very RED dirt that will tracked all over your rig!
The half day tour is the one we took and it was wonderful! A bit scary in some places but we were never in any danger..... just a bumpy ride.

We are here at Gouldings and all set up. I want to thank everyone for the responses I received on this post. We plan to rest tonite and head out in the morning. Two sets of freshly charged batteries for the digital camera and a full tank in the noisy red Dodge.

Redrover98, Your post brings back fond memories for us . Monument Valley was one of the highlights of our western trip this year. Really spectacular scenery. Enjoy!
