basement heater

We have the 2018 Montana 3811MS. We're heading into a cold area with freezing temps.
I'm pretty sure the basement has a heat vent, but I need other ideas on how to heat the basement so the water lines and tanks won't freeze.
Does anyone use an electric space heater in the area?

Any help?

Both our old and new rig have been down near 0 without any additional heat down there. When it's real cold, use the furnace almost exclusively because that's where the heat down there has to come from. Others have used various heaters down there, but we never have.

I do Set it on 750 watts , and kept any flammables away It keeps the underside warm Also helps with bedroom floor ( we have front bedroom)

They need to put a big disclaimer near the thermostat in the camper telling people keeping the underbelly warm ( stuff can still freeze) unless furnace runs constantly Hazard is if you have electric fireplace and it keeps furnace from running

Hi Guys: Full timing for 13 years with several year staying in British Columbia where the temp. was below 0 F for several days at a time. We use an electric space heater with a thermostat set at about 55 F in the storage bin. We use propane and our electric fire place for the living space. Works great. Happy trails.

Currently set up in Topeka. I have a small ceramic heater in the basement set at about 50. Also skirted. Haven’t had a problem yet but, the next couple of days will will be interesting.

When it gets in the single digits, I use 250 watts ceramic heater in the basement for my filter & water softner....

I live in Colorado, full timer since March 2018. After frozen pipes and tank valves stuck, I now have a $20 coil heater from Walmart that I turn on at night on low heat and no more problems especially in the negative temps!

The furnace is good but the hose that warms the belly is very small.

Hello! We are staying this winter in our unit at NW Colorado - Meeker CO to be exact. We have it skirted and keep furnace thermostat @ 60 - 66 depending on weather we are up and in the unit. We use the fireplace in the living room - once in a while in the BR. Coldest temperature so far - temp not wind chill ... -18. No freezing.

Here is what have done ... 1-1/2 blue board styro taped to coach for skirting, heat trace and insulate the water lines that go up through front (uninsulated or heated) compartment, make sure not to inadvertently switch to heat pump. No freezing.

Use about $150 in propane per month. In Colorado condensation is not bad but keep a towel in bottom of front window. Shades are pulled most of time. Alum insulation on a couple of windows we never raise shade.

Our unit is pretty tight - no drafts and good heat. Basement stays about 45 on coldest nights.
