WHAT IIII Update
LD 114, the act To Prohibit RV Parking in Commercial Lots was killed by the Maine House today. The sponsor of the bill, Representative Perry of Calais (Callas)withdrew her Motion to accept the Ought to Pass Recommendation and then moved to accept the Ought Not to Pass Recommendation and that passed. Technically it can be revisited but that is quite unlikely.

Any explanation for the change? I imagine we can guess that pressure did it, but it would be nice to hear their explanation.

According to local news, the Maine Campground Owners Assoc. asked her to withdraw the bill.
"It's aimed at campers, and we love campers, and it would make campers the one at fault for camping in a place they think is free and should be free," said Rick Abare, president of the Maine Campground Owners Association."

Although I’ve yet to Wal-Mart or stay at a Cracker Barrel, I’m certainly not against the right to do so. I feel the more opportunity out there the more likely I would adventure into new territory, to boldly go where no … (Excuse me I just got back from the new Star Trek Movie). Anyway, I think if they stopped boon-docking like that on such a large scale it would not only hurt the state but many campgrounds as well. It certainly would discourage me and I would consider if I really wanted to visit that state.

There was an e-mail campaign against it.
