paint protection

Has anyone with the full paint bodies had a paint protective put on--our dealer would like to sell it to us. If you had it put on what are your thoughts

Sorry, but dealer installed paint protection only protects one thing, the dealers' profit margin.

Just keep your unit waxed and you'll be miles ahead. I'm speaking from experience. Listen to the voice of experience.

Do you pay extra for paint protection on your truck/car. Your full paint job includes clear coating. I don't think you need to do any (or pay) more. I agree with Rainer.

Can't imagine it being worth the money at a dealer. I would go zbart if I wanted to do it.

These painted RVs are all clear coated. Keep it waxed and you will be fine. But you will find under the overhang in the front does suffer from rock chips. I highly recommend mud flaps on the rear of the truck to minimize the damage. Stock ones behind the rear tires are typically too high off the ground (in order to clear curbs and such) to stop all the rocks. Mudflaps mounted as part of the receiver hitch and adjusted to just clear the ground are much more effective.

I have 1800 miles since the front was repainted and I installed mudflaps with nary a mark. Before the front looked like it was hit by a shotgun blast on each side.

I had the Zylon application applied to mine. It has a full 5 year warranty on the paint and clear coat. Cost was $1499 for mine all in. I figured after paying $9k for a full body paint job, the additional cost was minimal. I've also found the Zylon application makes washing bugs and tar off with almost no scrubbing required. Standard garden hose pressure is enough to get 98% of the bugs off the nose cap while standing on the ground. My opinion, it was worth it for me.
