Norcold Replacing Fridge
Can't seem to get freezer fixed correctly, have frost build up in front top and on door. Does this look normal? https://plus.google.com/photos/11255...75865090776753 This is after 3 days, and have added items to freeze and makes no difference. Frost on door just doesn't seem right... Norcold has put shims in seal and then tried new door..

Looks to me like Norcold has more work to do. You shouldn't have that in just 3 days

We are having the same problem with ours. It became so bad that we had 4 inch icicles hanging down. We took it to Lazydays in Florida and were told there was nothing wrong with it. They told us to set it at 7. Everything then froze in the refrigerator. We set it back to 6 and then to 5 to stop the freezing in the refrigerator. That was last week. Today we got an error code L1oP. We had to bring it back to Lazydays to have it reset. Not happy.

That should not be right.

All I can say is those pictures look exactly how ours in the Monty looked and we never did figure it out. We have the 4 door Norcold in our SOB and no problem other than after a few months we get a build up of frost in the rear of the freezer compartments, but consider that normal.

We are fulltiming and have to defrost only twice a year. Your door not sealing maybe?

I would venture to say that the door is definitely not sealing properly. Frost has to come from moisture and the telltale sign of frost forming at the front next to the door seal appears to be obvious to me. Don't know the solution, but I seem to recall some previous posts on the Norcold door seals. The only thing that I will add is that the doors can sometimes seem like they are closed but in reality are not. I will say that ours have to pressed hard to close until you can hear the latch make a clicking sound.

I agree with the sealing. A fridge or freezer door not sealing correctly will cause its compressor to run all the time and allow outside air to come in and cause any resulting condensation to start freezing over.
I have seen some techs kinda eyeball seals by using a small piece of paper (3 to 4 inches wide), close the door, then pull the paper out to "measure" the tightness of a seal. They do this all around the unit to check the seal all around. This is not very scientific to me but you might try this to see if it feels the same ALL around each door. Short of getting a new fridge/freezer, maybe just a seal needs adjustment or replacing. I don't know but is it possible the seal is installed wrong, too?
The longest we have ever camped in the Monty is 10 days. Other than the obvious failure we had and the unit was fixed after our second outing, we have never had frost develop in our unit. Granted it's smaller than a double door unit and it's a different model, but something sure seems awry in yours.

My 4 Door Norcold was not sealing correctly. Additionally door would occasionally open to the point where the alarm would go off, particularly when bouncing down the road. Solution was window insulation stripping from home depot. Installed it over the refrigerator seal, two years ago, and have had no problems since. Problem was with the frig only, not the freezer. Had to experiment to get the right thickness. My problem was excess moisture and water forming on the roof rather than excessive freezing.

I think the latch is a big part of the problem, at least on the 4 door models. The latches on each door go into the same hole, this causes the other latch already in the hole to click open a little bit. When i close our I hear a double click and the door that was shut pops open a very small amount. But I can say our doesn't frost up and I thought it would. Runs all summer.

Update, freezer had door replaced after shims didn't help still frost buildup in 3 days. Norcold then wanted to put shims in new door, installed last Friday and dealer says on Monday frost still on top of door.. They have contacted Norcold and we are waiting for a reply. I contacted Keystone and we are pushing for a new fridge, on going since December for a fix. Working with Ashley and Christy (Keystone) both have been great, hope this gets resolved soon.

Got notified today, Norcold determined this is not a frost free freezer, and after several attempts to fix it, this is how it is... Why try to fix something if that is how it's meant to be.. Keystone says nothing they can do all warranty is through Norcold. We are disappointed with final results from Norcold and Keystone. https://plus.google.com/photos/11255...75865090776753

Our experience with Norcold mimics yours. We were lucky in that when we were at the Service Center, they found that there were actual broken parts and so it was replaced under Norcold warranty, then 3 years. New refrigerator warranty was only 1 year.

I posted this earlier in another section but will re-post here.
We just had our Norcold 4 door fridge go out again... One year and two months ago we had to replace the cooling unit which is 80% of the refrigerator. Our extended warranty covered all but the $500 deductible and the food we lost over a holiday season.. Now the cooling system is shot again.. Norcold said that if it was one year and one day over the installation, it is out of warranty... Thankfully our extended warranty company has more compassion and they will drop the deductible for this new unit.. How does Norcold get by with this... Almost every one we know with the Norcold no matter what kind of RV they have, have had problems, 5th wheels as well as motorhomes.. This time we had just filled the freezer with shrimp, salmon, ground beef, pork chops and chicken.. Also froze the strawberries from the strawberry festival that only comes around once a year. I almost cried when we had to throw this out...If we get to Elkhart this year
we will have the cooling unit replaced with the Amish one..

Jim and Suzanne-- If it were me, I'd be contacting the Help Line or Help Section at Trailer Life magazine. They have done wonders with people having problems with their units and with specific problems such as yours. Apparently Norcold has known about this problem and do not want to face a recall they may have to put up with if things turn out that way. We have a 2004 unit and the Dometic refrig and have a torn gasket but it still does not frost up so I'd be pushing the problem and not settle for what Norcold has to say! Good Luck!!

Did just as you suggested, have received a letter back from Trailer Life RV Action Line with my letter and theirs they forwarded to Norcold for a response. Norcold seems to put out a product they don't stand behind. Had Dometic refrigerators in our other rvs with no problem. Is very frustrating having to clear frost off every time using the freezer.. Hope they step up and correct this.

Received email from Keystone, after forwarding Action Line letter to montanaowners, Ashley and Christy at Keystone, they contacted Norcold again on our behalf and Norcold is replacing our refrigerator. They have now determined the freezer box was bad. We are waiting for the fridge to come in and they have allowed 3 hours labor..
