NEW ... Montana 3850FL and the 3900

Both floorplans are on the Keystone website. The 3900 has a bath and a half!

Yes, they have made some nice improvements, especially to the 3582RL. We are looking forward to seeing the 3900 up close as this one is real intriguing looking. It does look like there maybe some reduced counter top area but until we see first hand we won't know.

Not sure how I feel about the 3850FL, but it is interesting. A back door that is actually on the back is unique. I will be curious how the stackable washer dryer will work in a slide particularly considering the effect of the washer spin cycle!! If you have one, you will know what I am referring to. First glance, I prefer our 3750FL, but to each his own I guess.

We saw the 3900 at the Rally and at first glance it's impressive. Keystone expects to sell a lot of them. I mentioned to several Keystone folks that I thought it would sell well, but then after you lived in one for a little while you'd wish it was configured differently. To my surprise they agreed with me. Of course from their point of view a rig that sells well and then causes a replacement sale in a few years is a good thing.

We did see the 3900 at the fall rally. There are already two sinks and vanities in the forward area.Helen felt the extra bath off the kitchen could be better utilized as a pantry , storage area. We did not care for the exposed john.Other than that we did like the floor plan. Montana did take notes.

The only thing I'd take from the 3850 and transplant into my 3750 are the opposing couches. The "L" shaped couch on the 3750 is OK but not my 1st choice. Anyway, it's soon to be replaced (in the slide) with 2 comfortable bucket chairs with a table in between and a zero clearance La-Z-Boy up against the railing where the "L" part of the existing couch sits now.

Moutard2,
I assume you are aware that the sofas on the 3750 are on a raised platform in the slides. The kickboard on the bottom of the sofas hides the platform that the sofas themselves sit on. I am curious if you addressed this and have figured out a way to eliminate the platforms to put the chairs in that place or if they are going to be elevated?

Bingo wondered what it is like to have a washer/dryer in a slide. I have a Splendide in the super-slide of our 3700. I think the vibration there is slightly less than when it is in the entry closet of a 3400 style rig. Perhaps the 3700 super-slide being independent of the main chassis helps reduce the transmission of the vibration?

P.S. Did you notice Montana has eliminated the 3700RL and 3800RE?? Both are a little more than a year old and they are gone. I thought those were popular models and selling well. But maybe I believe that because I bought one.

While I haven't worked out the details, I am aware of the installation configuration of the couch and platform and I don't see it as a major hurdle to jump. The chairs will probably ride on the existing platform which I may extend slightly to facilitate positioning the chairs at an angle. I don't anticipate any show stoppers.

Another option is to change your configuration as I ordered mine from the factory. I deleted the L shaped sofa and had another sleeper sofa installed in its place. Now we have his and her sofas and a bunkhouse for the grandkids when they come. I also purchased a Lazyboy rocker recliner that I place in the spot where the L extension was. When I pull in the slides I lay the recliner on its front with the back in a position to ride on top of the sofa. It kinda gets pinched between the two sofas but allows the slides to fully retract. I know it's only one so DW and I share.
You may be able to find or purchase another from Keystone if the recliners in the slide don't work.

We have a 365 REQ Big Sky which we have been living in for 3 years as workampers. RV's are like Autos every one has a different style, but for us we have not been able to find anything we like better than our floor plan and believe I think we have looked t just about everything, to say we are pleased with our Big Sky would be an understatement. We do like the Landmark but I don't like having to deal with Camoing World.

I do not care for the 3850FL. You lose the big closet in the bath. You lose the desk. You lose the J-sofa. I believe there is less kitchen cupboard space. The kitchen table while seating four would be extremely cramped. Toilet area is small. Nah. The 3750FL is still better IMHO.

We just stopped at the local Montana Dealer and looked at the 3900. It is a very nice floor plan and we really liked it a lot. The nice thing about the forward bathroom and closet is you can get completely ready and dressed in the morning in one room. The upper bathroom is also very spacious. The lower bathroom is roomy too and we thought it would be very handy if you and friends are outside and need to use the facilities you don't have to track through on the carpeting and up the stairs.

There is a lot of storage cabinets throughout the camper. They also incorporated a desk into the entertainment center. The only drawback we saw was the leather chairs and couch, but then we prefer cloth to leather. Very nice unit!!

I am Scott and I approve this messsage!

Agreed. I like the 3750FL floor plan better. We love the full width bathroom and the layout. It will be interesting to see how it sells. By far, the 3750 FL, according to Keystone, is the best selling floor plan .

Just got a close look at the 3900 and we really liked the layout. Would think they could offer options to the half bath. Would be better as a pantry or utility room for the Washer/Dryer etc...

Helen thought exactly the same thing and told Aram that for a long timer or full timer that space could be better utilized. He came back with/ a % figure of how many owners were long timers or full timers and it was not a very high number.. These guy have the data and know who buys these things.

I think if purchased a good carpenter could customize the half bath and make a good utility room or pantry. I really do like the floor plan. I hope to see the 3850 soon as we are planning to purchase soon as retirement draws near.

IMO the 3900 will see some changes as time goes on.It has only been out a short time.We really like the 2nd sink and vanity in the 3402. The 3900 has two sinks and vanities in the forward bath area.

I toured a 3900 today. I thought that the forward bath & bedroom cut down on the available living area considerably. It seemed smaller to me. The 1/2 bathroom would be handy but seems a bit much given the valuable room it consumes. The clothes hamper in the forward bathroom chest of drawers is more good space that I'd use for more clean clothes storage. AND, my wife stated ... where does the washer/dryer go? Overall not bad although Keystone should ask US (heads up Mr. Keystone!!) next time they want to design a new floorplan. After all, who knows Montanas better than MOC members?

It will be at least next year before we buy. Our first choice by far is your 3402 layout. We really like the second sink as well. I look forward to additional iterations of the 3900. You really have a nice looking rig.
