Washer/Dryer help needed

The DW and I will be retired in January and plan on long timing in our 3400rl. We want to install a washer/dryer and would like opinions. We can install a combo or stackable unit and not sure which one. If you have one, which one is it and do you like it or would you rather have the other. John

We had put a combo in our Montana and opt'd to stay with a combo in our SOB. We spent 6 months last winter in the Montana and usually did a small load every other day. Worked fine for us and now use the space where a dryer would go for added storage. BTW our combo is a vented model. One of the major advantages of a stacked set, you can be drying a load while you start a second in the washer. We generally hang our laundry on a rack off the back of the rig, but we don't have anyone behind us either.

We have only had the stackables from Splendide and have never looked back. The advantage is being able to wash and dry at the same time for multiple loads. With that being said, our needs are definitely different than most since we haul around two daughters where ever we go who for some reason insist on multiple changes of clothes a day. A couple may well be served by a combination unit depending on the amount of dirty clothes, towels, etc., generated in a normal course of a couple days. Our stackables run an average of 6-8 hours a day when we are camping, are over five years old and have never presented us with any kind of problem. I trust some combo owners will be along to relate more regarding their capabilities. Oh and congrats on the forthcoming retirement John!!

We got a combo (vented) and then went with the stack-able. Yes we lost storage but would not go back to a combo.

We love our stackables, I wired the dryer for 220, it does the job quickly. They are Maytags from Sears with a large capacity.

I went with the stack-able (side by side) units and am glad I did. I like being able to have a load in the washer and another in the dryer at the same time. Cuts the time it takes to do laundry in half.

We’ve had both, the combo and now we have the stackable units. We will stay with the stackable units.

We have a combo (vented) as that is all we have space for. But it has served us well. Normally there are only the two of us, but sometimes we also have 1 or 2 of the grandkids with us.
Since the combo unit both washes and dries, the DW will just put a load in and we go about whatever it is we want to do. Come back later to a clean and dry load of laundry. And if she needs to do another load, we just do the same.
We are not full timers, or even long timers, but at least once a year we do go for up to 3 weeks at a time.

We have the combo and like it. We'll do a load every two or three days. Since we're not in a hurry to get the laundry done, the combo works fine. Congrats on the retirement. We hope to meet you again some day. If you want to make a trip down this way, let us know.

May be a dumb question BUT here goes. Doesn't it depend on what RV you own. Can't imagine getting a side by side or stackable in our bedroom closet without losing all the storage space if it would fit at all. Used the combo all summer and it did the job. Of course we did hang items that wrinkle.

Mike,
OP has a 3400, that model has a large closet made for stackables or combo just inside the main entry door. Other units do have limitations depending on the closet space provided. DW would never consider any rig that did not have room for the stackables.

We opted for laundry mats or campground machines. After checking out the Splende machines we figured out that with my size I would only be able to wash one pair of my jeans at a time lol lol......But did find a Splende at the Canton flea market with all it's stickers and book for $300. But yeah it was a flea market so you would be taking a chance.

We took our Splendid stackables out and made storage shelves in the space. They have been stored ever since and the wife wants me to get rid of them. We do our laundry at the parks we stay in.

HI,
I've said it before and will say it again, I LOVE having a W/D in the rig. We have the Splendid all-in-one ~ yes, the loads are smaller, but we really don't notice a difference (except for our big fluffy towels). I do not mind at all to do a load or two most days - but rarely is it everyday. We did nor install ours ourselves, we paid the dealer and are glad we did. We traveled before and used laundromats and never liked it. We also do not miss the space it takes.

We just installed the Splendide in our rig this year and boy is it ever nice. We camped for 4 days with no sewer and I missed the slplendie terrible. It is just a convience you get use to like your cell phone. I have the combo and really like it. I do believe if I full timed the stackable would be the way to go. Either will work well.

If you think I am giving up my bedroom tv for a stackable, your mistaken, lol. The space for the stackable w/d would eliminate the tv where it is located in the corner next to the closet. We have the 2007 Montana 3500RL.

We have a 3750 FL(Front Livingroom) Love it. Has a stackable washer/dryer left of the bedroom closet in the rear of the unit. Can any one tell me the best way to winterize this W/D unit without running a whole cycle of antifreeze through it.
