storage of camper

I was just wondering what your preferences are when storing your rv. Do you store with the slides in or out. Why? Thanks for all your thoughts in advance. Happy Easter.

Although we don’t store our unit at a storage facility, we do store it with the slides in through the winter. I believe there is less chance for leaks and damage to the toppers with them in. However, throughout the summer we leave the slides open. We are in & out of it too much to close them every time we need to go inside for something. During the summer it has been an extension of our house when not out camping somewhere.

We store ours in a garage. I don't think there is any harm in leaving the slides where ever you want them. I routinely store ours with them in, unless I need them out to work on something. If it was sitting outside, I'd pull the slides in due to the leak issue noted earlier.

We stored our Monte outside for the first three years we had it with no cover and the slides in to make sure there were no leaks through the slides. It now sits in a nice little building and is safe and secure from the elements and mother nature at our farm about 45 miles from Omaha. I normally open up the slides inside to work on it and make sure everything is functioning properly also. It is personal choice as to inside or outside storage and with or without the slides extended but as has been said here-- storing it with the slides open could lead to leaks and possible problems within so IMHO the slides should be in when storing the unit!

When we stored ours it was always outside with the slides closed.

We store ours at the S/B with the slides out. Have not had any problems doing it. The only time we put them in is when we have real high winds.

See Chapter 10 of your owners manual here are a couple of the items:

Slide-out rooms should be stored retracted.

Rooms that will be extended for long periods of time should be actuated 1-2 times a week.

We have left our slides out for 4 Months during the summer season for 10 years never a problem

Always store with slides in

The rather over-kill vendor suggestion of cycling the slides each week I assume is meant to keep the cylinder rods from rust pitting. I've never had that issue, but I've never camped on the beach near the ocean. I'd venture to say just wipe the cylinder rods down with the oil of your choice ever so often if this seems to weigh on your mind. Depending on what you have setup inside, it's alot simplier than cycling your slides .
