Norcold 1210 Refrig - Error LI op

Was gone for about 1 hour, after returning home noticed Norcold refrigerator was beeping with error code LI-op. I looked it up in the owners manual and it states that the "High Tempature Limit Switch Is Open". It's only about 85 outside and 80 inside the Monty. Anyone knowledgable on these refers ?

Neighbor had a Kenmore RV refrigerator installed today, he was feedup with replacing Dometic and Norcold units twice in 3 years. Anyone have any info on the Kenmore for RVs ???

This is the switch that was replaced with the recall, if you havent got yours done you need to contact a dealer for replacement.

Once you get approved and the dealer gets the parts, it is about a 45 minute job. If the dealer already has the recall kit on hand, it should be relatively easy.

I have no more confidence in a Kenmore than I have in Norcold.

Doesn't Kenmore just buy from someone else and just put their name on it? I wonder who makes the "Kenmore".

If I recall correctly, Kenmore appliances were made by Whirlpool, but things change so often....isn't Whirlpool now part of Jenn-Aire not sure.

Didn't know Kenmore made appliances for RV's.....

We also had the Norcold Recall problem...... and have decided if there is another problem we will replace with a non RV fridge since the cost of repairing/replacing the Norcold is way more.

The recall repair was relatively quick and the fridge has been working great since the recall was taken care of.

The same thing happened to me, about 5 mo. after the recall was completed the refer quit, same code. It turned out that the little control box that was part of the new switch failed, it was replaced under warranty however I had to pay for labor, tech came onsite to replace.

RV Tech came out and determined the cooling unit had failed or has a blockage. This will be the 2nd failed cooling unit in 2 years on our 2009 3400RL! Another RV Tech that was at the park talked to me and said that he didn't think the cooling fan was coming on soon enough ... Norcold faxed a worksheet of required diagnostice steps to take before they decide whether to send another cooling unit for replacement. Ok 3 days now with no refrig, another day or 2 to go thru the worksheet and fax back to Norcold, then if they decide to send another cooling unit it will be a good 5 business days to be delivered.. Wish the Norcold people Full-Timed in an RV to experience the inconvience of not having a refig for a week or two ! Bought a compact refrig today to get us by, park manager had an empty, already cold, freezer that he let us use, although it's all the way across the park if we need to get anything out of it. Of the 3 RV Techs I've talked to, since ours took a dump for the 2nd time, they all recommended Dometic over Norcold. Next time I'm dumping the Norcold & replacing with Dometic or anything else BUT Norcold !!!

Yep. Same error message here too. We found it during our PDI and had the dealer fix it before delivery. Seems to be doing good now.

Starting week 3 and we still have not received the replacement for the failed, what is actually refered to as the, High Temperature Sensor that was installed 5 months ago per their recall. I checked Friday with the Authorized Norcold Repair person and all he could tell me is "hopefully next week". I WILL be calling Norcold shortly and it won't be a very happy customer calling, I'll feel sorry for the CSR agent, but almost 3 weeks is an outrage ! And if they expect me to pay for any of the charges for the defective recall part OR trip charges & labor to the RV service man they will have a fight on their hands !

A local dealer will be coming by either this afternoon or first thing tomorrow morning to check it out. We will have our fingers crossed and update the situation later. If it is going to take more than a couple of days, we will live out of a cooler until we get home.

Part finally arrived Monday and was installed. Tech had determined it was the High Temp Sensor that was installed in January as per the recall letter we recieved. Norcold paid the bill for new part & labor, after a phone call I made to them, they were originally only going to pay for the part and 1/2 hour labor but we were billed $115.00 for the additional 1 hour of the Tech's time to do diagnostics that Norcold demanded and two trip charges, they said they will reiburse us. They sent a new revised version, heard several others have had problems with the first version. Working great now, we'll hope for the best.

We're glad to hear your fridge is fixed and Norcold is reimbursing you. Thanks for letting us know the outcome

So......you think that just because you have a brand new Norcold 1200 series refrigerator you would be safe from the Hi-temp sensor recall. Well....think again! We have been using our Montana for 3 months and the error code came on. However, we called Norcold and they seem to be circling the wagons. They only offer you to drive the coach to a dealer and will pay for the part, install and ground shipping to the dealer (we are talking 2-3 week minimum). Nothing else. Meanwhile, we called a Mobile RV Repair on the list. He wants to be compensated for his mobile time ($90) and overnight shipping ($47.50). So be advised, it is nearly September 2013 and this same problem is still occurring after 3 years. Norcold's fix is to hold a magnet on the red LED light for 60 seconds and that will reset the error code and hi-temp sensor. The repair guy said he has tried this on 3 other Norcold's this month alone and it didn't work. Why the heck don't they put a re-set switch like any other sensor? So now I am going out and buying styrofoam boxes and ice. We are 2600 miles from home.

Guess we are lucky with ours, recall kit was installed in 15 minutes, and except for having to beef up the door seals with some rubber window insulation, our refrigerator has run like a champ to include 3 5-month stints in Florida. This is our first Norcold, and like most of you, I liked the Dometic better.

Our Nor cold failed in less than 8 months. Blockage they said. Replaced under warranty but what is up with all the blockages. Will ask at the Fall rally. Was 2 weeks without a fridge in Florida....Nice.

This is the main reason we opted for the standard reefer when we ordered our 3585SA. The other reason was the fact that when going with the larger reefer we would have lost the pull-out pantry. Ours is not as large but is large enough for 2 people full timing and it has not skipped a beat.

***Update: The Mobile Repair guy asked to return and try the "reset" again. This time we turned on the refer to "AC" and the tech held the magnet just above the red LED light. And sure enough, I heard a click. The refer reset. The tech said he was told of different spots to hold the magnet to reset it by Norcold. So after he left, I got my Whiteout, placed a dot on the cover exactly where he held the magnet and wrote with a Sharpie on the panel what to do. Case closed. $45 later.
