Rich, you are an information super highway, while I modify, you research. You are the Gill Grisom of the Forum......
Hail to Rich! I read the post and learned about my new Baby, thanks. We, as mere drivers should not have to think that hard. Remember when we had a 70 Chevy truck, raised the hood and could sneak one of our buddies into the drive in? Can't now...

What I would like to know is, who is going to pay for the extra fuel while you are on the regeneration drive and how that is going to contribute to the polution problem we have because of all the diesel units on the road? It seems that we have traded one form of polution for another. Also, who will write the note to our management explaining why we are late for work or a meeting because we had to go for a short drive to regenenrate the filter on our diesel truck? I am sure that not everyone driving one of these units will be retired. It sounds like it is mandatory that the truck be driven when the message on the dash says so.

These new motors are not designed for low speed, stop and go, daily driving. Regeneration uses fuel that does not turn the wheels and these regenerations are frequent at lower speeds. If you have a EGT guage you will see this as I did as described in my post regeneration..oh boy. I think at interstate speed we will be OK..

Two things I did not know. One, that Ford recommended a truck bed cover and , two, that the different weights of motor oil would affect your mileage. I didn't find anything alarming or disconcerting about the information.

Like Stiles, I learned something new (I think). I only have a little over 1,000 miles on this 2008 Ford. I am fairly sure I have had at least one regeneration I am aware of (and perhaps a second). But lacking an EGT gauge I really couldn't tell at the time.
What I didn't see was the "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" message. I have a Job 2 truck so it should have all of the tsb's installed. Has anyone ever seen the "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" message?
