Paid $3.199 here in Cullman, Alabama. But have seen prices from $3.10 to 3.50 in a 40 mile radius of Cullman.

We've been paying 3.29 in So. Calif but today was ONLY 3.25 - down 4 cents. Only reason we need to get out of here.
Happy trails......................

$3.39 a gallon at most places in Brevard County Florida and over towards Tampa Florida. We paid $3.27 a gallon at the BP sataion right across from the Lazy Days Center off I-4 near Tampa Florida this past weekend. T/A and Flying J at the same location had diesel at the same price.

Regular gas is going down here in the southern part of Oregon, about $2.85, but diesel continues to climb. We can still find it for $3.29 but there are several places charging $3.39.

After spending last week in South Carolina where diesel went from 2.98 to 3.19, Georgia has been disappointing at anywhere from 3.19 to 3.42.

Price of oil is still sliding ($60.02) at end of trading today. Hope it impacts diesel prices pretty soon.

Seems to be no ryme or reason for diesel price differences. Same town has lowest prices in the state, and almost the highest. In MI gas prices range from $2.89 in the U.P. to $2.36 in the Port Huron area. I can see the geographic logistics that support that, but diesel pricing is all over the board in the SAME town! Weird.

They said on the news tonight that they are making more gasoline than diesel and that is why it is higher. I think it is a big ripoff

OK...let's recap... The refiners are doing this to make sure the consumers can get to their jobs so that they can earn money so that they buy more gas to go to the stores where they will find NO PRODUCT. Following goverment logic, this will allow the average consumer to have MORE spendable income (but nothing to spend it on ~ except more gasoline, because we will now have plenty of that ~ and because of the high taxes on gasoline, the government coffers, not coffins, will fill up so that we can now expect to see a plethora of new social programs ~ might want to start with a massive soup kitchen program), notwithstanding the fact that we are all going to be a lot thinner.
Makes sense to me... but then, my wife handles the checkbook...

Does anybody know why the truckers are not screaming? Seems to me they are hurting too but haven't heard anything from them.

In a nut shell, Years ago when the truckers threatened to strike due to rising fuel prices the government gave them the OK to add a surcharge to their delivery costs in order to recoup the rising costs. Therefore they are no longer concerned with the cost of fuel.
Who do you think ends up paying those surcharges.
The Consumer???
110% absolutely correct. We not only pay the hi fuel cost but we also get it in the "you know where" in the form of higher costs for everything we buy.

I suspect that refineries are increasing their production of heating oil, too, which means the stock of diesel isn't going up as fast as it could. About the time that Katrina and Rita went through the Gulf was when they should have been switching over, according to what I read.

Bob-
You are correct about the timing of the hurricanes and the production of "heating oil". The refineries ramp up their production towards the first of September anticipating the winter demand for "heating oil". Diesel and "heating oil" are basically the same, just different terminology. Depending upon how the processing units are controlled results in how much gasoline, kerosene (jet fuel) and diesel (heating oil) is extracted from a barrel of crude oil.
