Thumbs up A great Michigan campgound!!

http://www.northernbearpawrvpark.com/

We have never used a private campground. We use the state campgrounds here in Michigan. This past week end, we used Northern Bear Paw RV Park near Tawas. I can't begin to describe how surprised we were. First, they were cheap-$30.00 a night for water, sewer and electric. 50 amp electric with metered power for 30 day or longer stays(discounted pricing for longer stays as well.)Pads were limestoned and level. Groomed walking trails in the woods and along the AuGres river. Reservation was easy-just a phone call did it. No credit cards necessary or accepted for that matter. The bath house was like nothing we have ever experienced before, laundry facilities, ice and fire wood available onsite. Saturday morning the owners offered a complimentary pancake breakfast to campers. A beautiful pavilion area with full commercial kitchen. This would be a great stop for anyone exploring northern Lower Michigan. We will definitely be going back!!

Any suggestions for the west side of Michigan? Going up east side of Wisconsin and down west side of Michigan starting this week from TN. Any suggestions are appreciated.

We really like the Michigan State Parks. Lake Gogebic in the Upper Peninsula and Young in the Lower are two of our fav's.

Here is the State parks website if it helps. Usually the parks set aside a few campsites for "transient" travelers. I would suggest calling ahead if you want to use this option. The sites are usually 50 amp if available.

Also if you like doing casinos, especially for an overnight stop, there are quite a few casinos across MI and several have electric even, occasionally for free. Some also have RV parks attached too if you want full hookups. These are often more available than the state parks (which are great in MI) especially on weekends in the summer.

The state park in St. Ignace is nice. reserve ahead and you might get a waterfront view of the mackinaw bridge.
