Preventing freeze up while traveling

I'm new to traveling with a 5th wheel RV during the winter.

Can the furnace be operational during towing? To prevent freeze up of the water tanks, cleaning supplies, canned foods, etc., etc.

When it’s freezing temperatures during travel, we always have the furnace on and nothing freezes.

On the old rig we could run the furnace with the slides in. With the new rig we can't because too many furnace vents are totally covered so it all depends on how your rig is configured.

We travel a lot in the winter. Our vents are open so we run the furnace. No problem. Also make sure the water heater in on propane and running so it want freeze.

If you are traveling with freshwater, make sure you insulate the drain tube (many layers). And run with your tank heaters on. Use your furnace at night to keep the underbelly warm.
Use remote thermometers to monitor the basement. This one has a range of at least 150' so you can keep an eye on things from the TV while you are traveling.

Sandra_David, That’s exactly my plan. Just had to get thru that blizzard weather around Albuquerque last week. We made it without freezing up. Now enjoying the warm sun in Mesa, AZ.

Never thought about running the furnace while driving down the road. You set it at the lowest thermostat temperature?

Sure did. Everything worked fine.

In there is a chance of freezing, we always travel with the furnace on. On our last fuel stop before we plan to call it a night, we turn it up so in a couple hours it is warmer for us.

Thanks That is something I have been contemplating. Running the furnace while traveling in freezing weather. The vents are all open when slides are in.
