Wheel Bearing Grease

What is the best wheel bearing grease to use for a Monty 4 wheel trailer 16K pounds?

I've been using the Timken brand grease for a number of years now, but I'm not sure there is a lot of difference in grease that will make one that much better or worse than another. It's more important to do the service to the bearings as well as inspecting the brakes on a regular basis. If Dexter axles, the Dexter manual has a list of approved greases.

I was checking into that. I have Dexter 7K axles. Could not find any info on their webpage so I used their "chat" and asked them. They said use lithium based. Same for the road armor suspension bolt zirc fittings.

Here is Dexter lubrication information including grease specifications, brands, and types. I have always used Citgo's Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp grease #2, one of those on their list.

I've been using the recmmended Mystik grease for about 10 years in the current and last 5er. I'm starting to question it now. While doing the bearings this spring, I left my bearing packer in the direct sun for maybe 10 minutes. The fresh grease that was on that packer started to separate and run. Outside temp was maybe 68-70 degrees. Ill be giving the Timken grease a try next spring after seeing if it separates. Also makes me wonder if that had something to do with a couple outer bearings that looked overheated but that also was before upgrading the axles

12 months or 12,000 miles per Dexter. 12 months is really a CYA time but something to consider

I use Amsoil Grease. I am a Amsoil dealer and use their products in everything, bearings, truck 2018, converted everything to Amsoil. Engine, transfer case, differentials, front and back. Not the tranny yet, it's too new for that, but I will eventually. Best products you can get. Totally guaranteed!

Hey Bill, thanks for that doc. Looking through it, there were some tools mentioned - seal installation and removal tools needed and also tools needed to remove bearings. Like brass punches, etc. Since I'm planning to do a complete replacement this Spring while inspecting the bearings and seals, I was wondering if someone could point me to which tools I might need. Back in the late 60s, we just pounded everything with a small maul and wood blocks. We were kids and it was the hand me down '65 Olds.

I see a few mentioned ,that you can't buy just anywhere. Amsoil is one for sure, not a fan of having to send for just a simple item, but some love that Amsoil !!!

Mobile 1 synthetic is what I use, and can get it at almost any parts store , also a recommended grease in the Dexter manual .

I'm sure some will say "not the same", but, I raced dirt cars for many years. The last 5 years was a dirt late model. Over 100 mph on a 1/2 mile track. The corner loads on those cars are tremendous and most times, tracks are ROUGH. Used the same bearings for all 5 years and NEVER had a bearing failure using Green Grease. If I remember correctly, it was developed for NASA. This stuff is so good even brake clean has a tough time removing.
