Where does your dirty washer water go?

I had posted this on Facebook, but thought I would bring it over here for discussion and education.

We learned something yesterday. We had Artison washer/dryer installed in our 2013 Montana. The washer drain does not drain into a gray tank. The drain is connected directly to then Montana main drain pipe. So I guess you need to be hooked up to sewer before washing clothes.

If you are not aware of where your dirty water goes from the washer, you could have a disaster in your Montana.

That sounds pretty stupid. It almost sounds like they added the washer drain after the fact.

Ours definitely goes into the main grey tank.

You can change yours to the grey tank by adding a knife valve shutoff at the sewer drain where you connect the flex pipe drain. When you want the wash water to go into the grey tank close this added drain valve, and open the grey tank drain, then you are putting wash water into the grey tank.

Yep, I have already done that. Thanks.

Both our 06 3400 and this 13 3402 go directly into the main drain which is the way we like it do not have to worry about overfilling a tank. Over the years since 2006 it appears that the W/D could drain just about anywhere.May be it was up to the discretion of whoever was doing that task on the assembly line.

That's how it was on the early Montana's they now go to the tank butt you can over fill the tank if you don't watch it!

Mine goes into the main drain also. When dry camping you let the water drain into a blueboy. Then take the blueboy to the dump or in some places the grey water can be used to water the bushes.

Ours has a label that says that my hook up dosent go to any tank but hooked straight to drain pipe, Well on ours its hooked to the grey tank. so check the pipe route behind the basement wall because sometimes the label is not correct.

Mine goes into the grey tank. Found out after the DW ran a couple loads of laundry and later I took a shower and found myself standing in an inch or so or water. Now I always leave the grey tank valve open unless I am getting near ready to drain the black tank and want to build up some water to flush the pipe.

There is a sticker in our washer/dryer cabnet that says "This drain is not connected to a tank". When the dealer installed a W/D in our 2010 Montana last fall, he winterized it. We had the outside drain cap off, all tank valves closed and no antifreeze came out. When we opened the valve on the Bath Gray tank, the antifreeze came out. We always run it on full hookups with the Gray tank valve open.

Ours says goes to main drain, well that is wrong it drains to gray water tank, wish it went to main drain, split our gray tank by over filling it once will change piping to allow main drain or gray tank with valves
