Always owned Motorhomes just bought our Fifthwheel
Hello, Johnnie born in Austin, Texas & Carol born in Tempe, Az. here. Always owned Motorhomes, but ours got stolen & we found a great buy on this 2006 Montana with 4 slides. Simply love it. Hubby still not sure about it after owning Motorhomes for so Long.. There are no brakes nor Electric Jack's on it. He wonders what it would cost for them? We'll celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary in July. Love traveling & camping....been doing it for many years. So happy to have found this site. Also our furnace won't come on..anyone? Thank you..John & Carol

Welcome to this forum ! There is a lot of great information to be had. Re: the lack of brakes - many members have upgraded to disk brakes and independent suspension axles, so that may be an avenue to pursue if indeed that 2005 unit doesn't have brakes (which is odd, but possible). Best of luck in getting on the road with your fifth wheel. It's a great life.
Congratulations on 60 years of married life. It's an accomplishment of which you both should be proud.

No brakes and no jacks? Every Montana ever built (since 1999 or so) has had electric brakes on all four wheels and electrical powered front landing legs to raise and lower the front of the RV.
By jacks, if you mean the hydraulic or electric stabilizing jacks (either 4 or 6), they became available much later. They are available to be retrofitted to your year RV.

Thank you so much. We're hoping to find out about our furnace not working. With it being a 2006, thought it would have brakes on it & Electric Jack's.. need to have them installed...

To diagnose the furnace issue, take a look at the manual. You will have to download it from http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...?do=file&id=11
It should get you going on figuring out what is wrong.

Welcome to the forum! In order to give you some ideas about the furnace we need more info. Is the propane on? Have you used the range to purge the pipes of air? How do you have the thermostat set? If it comes on at all, what happens next? You get the idea.

What are you towing with? Do you have a brake controller? It's hard to imagine that there are no brakes. Could be wiring as well.

Hey Johnnie, if you can tell us what model trailer you have, such as "2955RL" that will help us with diagnosing. My trailer is a 2005 and it has electric brakes just like Carl said. I am sure yours is the same.

Which furnace? The FAU or the electric fireplace? If the fireplace there is a switch on the cabinet next to the microwave that changes power from fireplace to micro and back again. You cannot operate both at same time
