Kitchen pantry slide out by stove
I have a slide out pantry/thing beside the stove. It is counter height and about 8 inches wide. Soda 12 packs just fit but I think are way too heavy. Anyway, this pantry is only held in by one slide/rail drawer thing on each side. This seems to me to be inadequate for any weight. Has anyone else had problems with this? (Mountaineer 362)
Thanks.

We use this for spices only. It does not appear strong enough for anything heavier. Maybe six months after buying this rig, the entire face fell off, and had to remove the unit to re-attach the cabinet face. The unit is very poorly made and was assembled with fasteners that were too short or not enough of them.

Got the same 'pantry' and use it for the same spices and also other light stuff. Sodas go under the sink.

We also load ours full of canned goods and have not had any problems to date. It's usually full when we go down the road. The way you describe yours it may be wider than ours, however.

We have the same spice rack/pantry. On our initial trip home from the dealer the pantry came open and fell off one of the tracks damaging the face of the cabinetry. I took the unit out and discovered the frame in the rear was not aligned properly. Very poor construction. I tried to restructure it but the one track kept popping off every time I pulled it out. Took it back to the dealer and they agreed that the one set of tracks was insufficient for the weight and resulting torque when the pantry is pulled out. Another set of tracks is on order and we will see how that works when installed.

The above post gives more info, but here is one of the pictures. I have how to make further down in the post with just hand tools and Pop Rivets.

CLARIFICATION. I was not talking about the spice rack thing that has wire frame shelves. I am talking about the wooden one that is floor to counter top height. It does only have one track held on to the sides by one screw front and back (one track each side).

That's the kind we have also, and do fully load it.

We have the same "pantry" as you have. We keep folded up dishtowels and potholders in there on the bottom. On the top shelf we just have coffee filters and a couple of 1# cans of coffee.

Just a thought from someone who is gleening all the info that I can from the MOC, I think it only makes sense to load all the heavy stuff as low to the floor as possible to prevent cabinets from coming apart from the "earthquake effect" from traveling down the hiway! I think it would also benefit your handling since your center of gravity would be lower as well, the unit would be less top heavy! Sorry that's my trucking background kicking in!

Just one problem with your idea - the slide out track is at the top not the bottom. So I would need to load the top not the bottom....
