We got this same idea from Ozz. If you do as he (and we) did, just remove the screws, cut them off, secure them back in their holes. They won't hold anything but it appears the panel is screwed in place, thus making it less likely someone would look there. Especially if you use hinges on the panel that are not easily visible. Also, we used magnetic catches and did not put a handle on the panel.
