We are Now Workampers

The park here in Amargosa valley is so short handed that they offered Walt Free rent to do a few things around here. He will be watering the trees and a little Yard work and security work at night. This is a nice size park that needs some tender loving care, but they cannot keep help because it is in the middle of no where.LOL. Any way it will be nice not to have to pay rent for a few months. Yeaaaaa!!!!

Good deal, glad it is working or Walt is working for you. Where is the park located?

We are 86 miles north of Las Vegas on HWY 95 not to far from Death Valley. It is a wide spot in the road, very quite with nice people. we have a cafe, gift shop, Bar, gas and diesel. It is built like a old west Fort. If you get down or out this way stop on in and we will show you the sites.

Linda, We stayed there in March when we were returning from Arizona. We liked the place, and the food in the cafe was very good. When we turned in though, we dropped into quite a big hole (unseen as it was twilight, getting dark) and when I entered the trailer I discovered the canned goods had opened up the pantry door and were all over the floor. I hope they've filled that hole. It's beautiful country down there.

We have stayed in Fort Amargosa twice now - first time in November 05 and then again in June 06 - boy was it hot in June 103 degrees when we pulled in and it was already in the high 70's the next morning when we were very glad to leave.

Nice park and inexpensive. Could use some tender loving care.

We are on our way to a work camper position in Gold Beach Oregon in September. (after helping family this summer).

We'll be heading down to Lake Havasu in September, so this time we'll be sure to stop in your place. Last time, we were in Indian Springs - yuck!

Thanks for the tip!

Linda & Walt,
I did see a Montana behind the building - but it was soooooo hot we went inside stripped to our skivies and tried to get us and the trailer to cool down - only ventured outside to take the dogs out.
We will come see you if we get back that way and you are still there. We will be in Gold Beach Oregon starting the end of September until April 2007. So will be awhile before we are back that way. Joe's mom and brother live south of Las Vegas about 70+ miles - so we will be going back that way one of these days. Plus our "extra stuff" is stored there.

Happy travels,
Laura

Rich,

Lake Havasu Falls Resort is the one we like. There are others on the island, but to get full hookups is tough and the sites are mostly unlevel dirt. While LHVR is blacktop roads, it does have cement pads that are level with gravel sides.

They do have Wifi and it is free (as of the last time we were there).

We'll probably be there in November, too, so we might be able to get together.

Thanks for the tip. Will take a look at it.

Called it up on the internet. As with so many in that part of the country it looks like a giant paved parking lot..but everything else looks good and the price is right. Will run it by the brother-in-law. He is retired from the phone company and works for the Park service out there.A park ranger I think.

There are quite a few RV parks in that area and not all parking lots. Your brother-in-law can probably give you some good advice. It is a popular area because of the river.
Happy trails.............................

Linda and Walt, that's terrific news!

For those who have not yet taken advantage of Linda's offer to show you around, they are terrific hosts and very nice people. We had the pleasure of meeting them and overnighting in that park back in May. They know a really good restaurant to take you to, also.

We stayed several days at Lake Havasu Falls RV Resort back in March on our way to the Grand Canyon. We found the park very clean, nice pool, good Saturday/Sunday inexpensive breakfasts served right at the clubhouse, and a nice restaurant further down the highway called Krystal's that had really good food. True, it is too much cement, gravel and asphalt, but it helped keep the RV carpets clean from mud being tracked in since it was raining one of the days we were there.
