Backing on plastic inserts on cabinet doors

I posted about this topic a while ago and wanted to let everyone know the outcome. The dealer ordered all new panels which came in today and they are going to install them on Monday. I asked about the procedure for replacing them because as I said in the previous post I am little concerned about the workmanship, especially the silicone. One of the things they said was before installing them they were going to remove the backing on the panels so I wouldn't have the problem again. I still wasn't sure if it was put there for safety reasons or was a protection against damage before they were installed as I had never received a definitive answer so I called Montana customer service this afternoon and according to "Randy" it is put there for safety reasons and under no circumstances should it be removed. I asked if I could give Randy's name to the dealer so they could phone and confirm it and it was no problem. We will have to wait and see if these are any better but at least I know why it was put on there.

Keystone just replaced all of ours without hesitation. Dealer called Montana service explained the problem and said to replace them. Took five weeks to come in.
