New England in Fall

Now that we have arrived to our home after our South trip over winter and we have trips all planned for May, June, and July I am working on a trip to New England Sept 16 thru Nov 1. Should get to New England by Sept 19 and would start back to WI about Oct 10th. Wondering about campground reservations. Generally I don't make reservations more than a day or two in advance. Would this be adequat in NE in the Fall? Also for you experienced travelers any must see areas and campgrounds to visit? Thanks for all you advise.

If you are going to be anywhere in NE while the leaves are turning, you will be competing with lots of other folks for camp space, road space, any space--especially if you plan to be in a "scenic area". Make reservations in advance if at all possible so as not to be disappointed. And enjoy being a "leaf peeper" which is what folks from CT call the fall tourists.

Also you might be aware that a lot of the campgrounds close after Labor Day so it is best to make your arrangements in advance to be sure they are open.

Last year we stayed in Quechee Vermont outside of Woodstock and Quechee Gorge at Pine Valley RV Resort. It was a very nice campground. Park was full and reservations are recommended.
