Winterizing The Spendide
Had the new Spendide 2100 installed last week. They ran it to be sure it worked, then winterized it. Claimed it took a total of seven gallons of pink stuff for the rig, with four to five going in the washer...and this is with no A/F in the fresh tank or hot water heater. Sounds like too much in the W/D to me...comments from those that have done this?

Bert. it normally takes one gal for the washer. When winterizing, I start with the washer and pump in enough pink stuff till I can see it in the door (be sure the washer is on warm setting so it goes thru both hot and cold pipes). Then run the washer thru the rinse and drain it. Now the washer is winterized to including the pump. Continue winterizing starting with the furtherst point bedroom, shower, toilet, outside shower, then the kitchen. By doing that I get by with 5 gal and thats including a gal in the fresh water tank and all of the drains..I do blow out the lines with at least 60 lbs air and bypass the water heater befor I winterize.Happy Landings..Ken

Like richfaa said, about an extra gallon. I did mine according to the manual, was real easy. richfaa has an easier way, go SOUTH!

After I started this thread, I checked the instruction book and their "Quick Guide." The winterization procedures were different in each...so I called them. They told me the easiest way to do it, and said the same thing you all did, about a gallon extra. My dealer's maint guys are flaky at best.

The manual that came with mine gave two easy ways to winterize the Splendide unit. I used one of them and used maybe an extra gal of plumber's antifreeze.
