Sealand Dometic Toilet

We bought a new 2980RL Montana last February and the only problem we have is the toilet will not hold water. We took the trailer back to the dealer and the dealer replaced the seals and the toilet still leaks the water out. I called customer service and they said it is a common problem and that the dealer should have replaced the ball with the seals and if that doesn't do it, then they would replace the toilet. Has anyone had this problem? How did you fix the problem?

This has been a problem for a few of the members and their is a repair kit to fix this problem, the manufacture will send you the kit if you call them.

Thanks for the info Glass Guy. I have called Dometic and they are sending me the repair kit, which is a better quality seal and a different spring. It's to bad the dealer didn't install the correct kit when he replaced the seal.

We were having the same problem with our Sealand. I put on a rubber glove, and put a bit of waterproof grease om the rear underside of the seal.

Has been working great ever since....

Well I tried the vaseline and the waterproof grease and both have not worked, at least permanently. I think I will wait for the toilet kit Dometic is sending me and hope its a permanent fix.

Thanks for the info. We have the same problem and called Dometic. They explained that the repair kit is an older design that worked! They will send the kit to you or your dealer to install under warantee.
They also had a temp 'fix' to lift the rear edge of the seal with something as the ball closes. I cut a 1 to 1 1/2 wide strip from the side of a plastic pop bottle that could be held in the opening as the ball closes to lift the seal in place then lift the strip out and pitch it. Since you can make several out of a bottle it is easier to make strips than to clean one since this has to be done after each flush. With the seal in place it holds water.

I have the exact same problem with my Sealand toilet. What is the telephone number for requesting the replacement seal? Do you have to remove the toilet to replace the seal??

Thanks in advance.

Just so everyone knows, I had the same problem and called Dometic and they sent me the new seals and spring. Took me about 20 minutes to install myself...very easy and it fixed the problem. I received the seals in about a week.
