Glad to have G614's
Pulling south of Nashville on I-65 today in fairly heavy traffic. Two new SOB fivers passed me going between 70 and 75mph.
I doesn't matter much to me if the speed limit is 65, 70, or 75mph, I generally just sit back and go 62-64mph. It is relaxing at that speed plus I am confident in my G614's and my TPMS.
About 10 miles down the road one of the fivers was on the shoulder with a blown left rear tire. Felt bad for him.
We observed the same thing on our trip out west this summer. Probably 3 or 4 TT's or fivers pulled over with blown tires.

Going in tomorrow for G614s finally. I only need the Marathons to last 30 more miles! Every trip out they are on my mind. Will be nice to put that one to bed.

Joe, Have a safe trip and hope to see you in the spring.
I was really glad we changed out our tires to the G614's before we left on our trip this Fall. Put on 5700 miles with out a bit of trouble. Saw several rigs on the side of the road with blown tires and damaged fenders. Most of them were new rig delivery drivers. They each passed us doing well over 70 mph. Guess they don't care much if they do any damage, not their rigs.

The problem with the way delivery drivers haul these rigs is that the damage done to the tire is irreversible and cumulative, so their just setting the new owner up for a bad experience before it might of happened anyway. Can't put a price on peace of mind and my 614's are giving me that.

I've been running G614s for about 5 years with no problems at all. I typically keep them right at 100# and average about 68 mph when travelling on the interstates. I would say I've got about 20,000 miles on them over this time period. I'm thinking about getting a new set this spring.

Thanks Scott, tell Sue good luck with surgery and be sure to let us know when you get the camp host locked in for spring.

When traveling up in the Northeast it is easy to maintain 60-65 mph....but here in west Texas where speed limits are 80-85 mph I usually set the cruise at 70 mph......My LT tires have held up well with 0 issues......I would never think of doing that on Marathons....but then I wouldn't think of traveling with Marathons on my trailer.....

Friends of ours who bought a new Montana after seeing our was driving 60 mph, had less than 5,000 total on tires, and one blew out damaging the Monty. That is when I sold my Marathons on Craigslist.

Replaced my tires the week we bought it last year with LT tires and still cruise around 63 MPH. I also have been passed too many times by delivery pick up trucks pulling rigs at what must have been 75 to 80 MPH. I know time is money for these folks but I also think the tires are surly compromised when the new owners pick up the rig from the dealer.

Monty got new shoes today! Cost a pretty penny but peace of mind is worth it. They wanted $50/tire less for some strange name G rated tire (something Star and not GeoStar). Not even one of the ones discussed in this forum. I immediately put my hat on backwards and drove 80MPH to be cool like the rest of the guys. Not really, 60-65 all the way and the way it will always be.

We find travelling like J and C makes our trip enjoyable to us. We have some of our best conversation travelling. Besides we notice at a good steady speed we continue to pass the "speed demons" several times.
