Taking out TV

What are the steps, that I need to do, to take the front room TV out of my 2007 3400 Monty. I am going to buy a HD LCD . What size fits best in that cabinet opening? Louis in Pittsburg Ca,

My 2007 had the older analog TV instead of the flat screens they started installing in late 2006 (my 07 was born on 9/06) so not sure if these steps would apply if you have the flat screen.

1. Remove the firplace mantel/fascia by removing the the wooden plugs (2 on each side of the front). I used a small screw inserted into the plug and pulled them out.

2. Remove the fire place by unscrewing the mounting screws. The fireplace plugs into an outlet that is behind the unit.

3. There are 2 screws into the bottom of the TV case that you can access from the fireplace cabinet.

4. There are 2 more screws into the top of the TV that were broken on mine (TV fell out while traveling)so not sure how to access these.

5. TV weighs a TON be careful when lifting it out.

I installed a 32" Samsung TV in it's place using plywood and a wall mount bracket. I purchased the bracket and TV at Wal Mart.

Excellent post & pics Phil! We have an 07 3400 and thats exactly how we replaced our old tv with a 32" Sony. With our plywood we only left an opening at the bottom to run cables in/out and I had to reach in with my long arm pretty far to install the top screws from the back which hold the plywood in place. One thing we did find that after the install there was a narrow gap left both at top and bottom which we filled with two pieces of oak mounted flush with the front face of the cabinet. Just for piece of mind we do unhook our Sony from the wall bracket for travel and it lays face down on the queen bed.

good point Darmar, we also take ours off when traveling. Only takes a couple of minutes to remove and put on the bed and these new TV's are sooooooooo much lighter!

I replaced my old TV with a 32" Toshiba. I bolted the new TV to a wooden frame that was attached to the Montana with a piano hinge on the left side of the opening.

I also replaced mine with a 32 inch Sony. When you travel is it ok to lay these new flat screens down flat? I have been keeping mine upright....Mike

I have heard that the easiest way to get the televisions removed is to park your 5th Wheel for awhile at an RV storage facility. ......ba-dump-tsshhh

This has helped. The sound went on the bedroom TV, so I plan to move the living room TV to the bedroom and pick up a new 32" for the LR. Very helpful, thanks!

Haven't replaced the tv but have removed it a couple of times to get to the HDMI connection. I found out the easiest way was to remove the slide out drawer behind the TV. There is a black plate with a lift up tab that locks the bracket attached to the back of the tv to the bracket attached to the trailer. Lift that tab while having somebody slowly rock the tv from side to side while pulling with slight preasure outward away from cabinet. It acts as though it wont release, but it will with steady preasure and side to side movement.

don't know about laying and lcd down, but, do not lay a plasma down.

I reinforced the top & bottom of the cabinet with 3/4" ply and put a 2X6 between the ply. Our 32" Sharp weighs about 40 pounds and the swingarm is rated up to 150. Mrs Muddypaws made nice quilted cover that slips over the TV andI strap the whole thing to the 2X6 with a very strong nylon strap when traveling. I figure it's safer there than sliding around on the bed.

I installed a 26" Visio in my 3295RK. I made the mounting system slide out so can use the space behind the TV.
