TIRE REPLACEMENT

I am getting ready to replace the tires on our 2005/3400RL. The have a lot of tread but due to just plain old age, think it may be time. Any suggestions as to brands that many of you fuller timers have used?

BF Goodrich Commercial TA's for us. We have them on both the TV and Monty.

We have the same as NCFischerson the Monty. One size larger LT tires work much better than the original ST tires. Michelin M/S on the TV.
Have used the BFG's for about 10,000 miles and they look new.
Do not get Goodyear Marathons. You can search for this topic and get lots of additional info.

We went with the Goodyear G614RST Load Range G. Available at less cost from Sam's Club. Need rims capable of 110 psi.

If any one needs new tires I would buy sooner rather than later as Cooper tire Co will increase tire prices by 10%. With there increase you can bet the others will move up too? Last month I went to Sam's and had Michelin X Radials installed. Watch Sam's for sales or free install deals.

Good call Dennis, I will need them in the next 5 months or so, probably should get them now. We all know that they won't be going down in price...

OK folks, what size do I need now with my 2007 Aluminum updated weight rated wheels??? I know, same size, but what width? Same,or a little wider or narrower?

Best bet for an unbiased recommendation is LonnieB, and I am sure you know that!! I e-mailed him quite a few times in the decision making process where I ended up with the 614's as Phil did!

By all means, if the tires ar the original ones, replace them--the sooner the better. LonnieB will be able to advise you. He knows tires. I'm happy to recommend him. In fact, we go out of our way to get our tires from him. It's worth the trip.

Ozz, whether you stay with the ST235/80R16 or go to the LT235/85R16, the width remains the same at 235 mm. The only difference in these two sizes is the overall diameter, with the LT235/85R16 being about an inch taller.

If you want to keep the height closer to what you now have, the LT245/85R16 would be close but it is 10 mm wider. Some folks with shocks on their trailers have found clearance problems with this size tire.

Since the question was aimed at "fuller timers" I will refrain from making any brand suggestions.

I 1st had missions and blew out 2 of them. Then I bought Goodyear marathons big mistake I blew out 2 of those however I complained to Goodyear Headquarters and they bought back the tires @ $142 a tire. I went to Sams and bought G-614. they are heavy and nice I'm sure these will last. I would recommend them to anyone. Jack

. we have an 07 md.3295 and are full timers. we had Missions from the factory, replace with goodyear marathons and last summer installed 4 toyo tires. will report back in a couple of years how the tires are wearing. a lot of toyo tires are sold in the north west. i couldn't find anything bad about the tires.

With all due respect folks I see a lot of you have put BFG load range E tires (3042 lbs) on your rigs and most of you are overweight for those tires. Please have a close look at the specs and make sure your tires are capable of carrying the weight of your loaded trailer and then add in a safety margin. For example, a 2009 3665RE was shipped from Keystone at 12695 lbs. and shouldn't be running on tires with a maximum of 3042 per tire!

Please read other thread you posted the same false information on moutard2. You have to subtract the pin weight from the rig before you calculate the bearing load on the tires. Not meaning to bash you, but it is helpful to know the total story before telling many members that their tires will not work. Mods, If this response is too strong let me know and I will delete it.

I normally stay out of the weight topics, but Bingo (bncinwv) is absolutely correct. The Total weight includes the pin weight. This undisclosed value (at least on the weight sticker(s) on the rig) is subtracted when estimating the axle weights.

But the only way to really know the weight on the axles and the pin is to put it on the scales!

I am pretty sure the various weight values of a 3750FL on a 2006 F250 will provide some interesting numbers.
