Bent Rear Stabilizer Jack

So I needed to do some work on the wheels on the passenger side of my trailer (after I had already setup for an extended stay). I raised my rear stabilizer jacks about 6 inches and lifted the front end of the trailer off of my tripod and I placed an 8ton jack under the front passenger axle. After I completed my work I went about leveling everything again and it appears that I did not raise the driver's side rear stabilizer jack high enough and during the process bent the struts on my rear jack. I've called 3 or 4 of the local repair stores and looked online but I have not found anyone who will just sell me the strut, everyone wants me to buy the whole assembly (not cheap).

Does anyone have any idea where I can buy just the strut or is my best bet going to be to go to a machine shop and have them manufacture me one?

Ouch, what a bummer... What year and model of rig to you have? Are these factory stabilizers?

I have an '06 3500RL and it uses scissor style rear stabilizers with a large screw in its middle that is rotated by a 3/4" wrench to raise and lower the jack. I have also seen the swing down arm style that operates the same way. I don't think these styles have struts, per se. What struts are you referring to? You probably have a different style than mine so I am curious what you have.

I think you're going to have to make one

Art-n-Marge: I have an '02 3450RK and they are the factory stabilizers. It sounds like my jacks are the exact same configuration. There is an arm that attaches the jack to the frame. This arm (or strut) is able to rotate the on both joints, it is what actually supports the weight of the trailer.

The way that the system is designed is that those struts would fail before anything else on the jack, kind of as a safety system. I can't imagine that they wouldn't sell just this strut... but then again, it wouldn't surprise me to see them only sell the entire assembly to.

Here's a couple of thoughts. Can you remove it and bend it back? If not, there are several RV 'boneyard' places that might have a complete used unit for a more reasonable price.
