Dim 12v lighting...And improvement
As my eyes continue to degrade, I find it harder and harder to see in the kitchen. After looking at the 12v bulbs, I realized that they are simple Malibu outdoor lighting bulbs. So, went to Home Depot and bought some 18 watt bulbs - 4 for $5.29. On the web, they are as cheap as $1.88 per 4 pack.
I replaced 4 bulbs and then did an informal, empirical test for heat output and did not realize any increase, although the light output is significantly more!
FYI, the bulbs at HD are ML18W4C:

Michael,
Thanks for a great idea. That is much cheaper than you can get them at an RV supply. I think any package that says RV on it is automatically quadrupled.

Thanks for the info Michael and Kathy. I will be replacing all of mine for the same reason as you. I found them at this website for $1.81 a 4pk. http://www.homeandbeyond.com/prod-0024608.html

I suspect, but have no confirmation, that the bulbs that come with our units when new are 7 or 11 watt ones. Obviously, by increasing the wattage, you will increase the amperage draw which will decrease the battery time on your unit. But, we rarely boondock, and when we do, we have two Honda generators with plenty of gasoline.
