Electric water heater
Though our water heater works on electric it is making a humming/buzzing sound when heating the water. Rather than take a chance of losing hot water I am using it on propane and there isn't any noise.
Any suggestions? FYI, I don't know the name of the song that is humming so don't ask LOL.

Ours made funny noises, now that we think back, and we ended up with the switch burned out and some wires burned into the insulation. Wires were apparently pinched when installed. Circuit breaker never did flip off

That could be noise from scale on the heating element, I have heard that before.

Dick, If Ozz is correct you will never get rid of it unless you keep running it on electric. If you lose hot water the tank will recover quickly with gas. Of course if Paul is correct you might burn your trailer down or at the least pop a breaker. I think while you at the trailer try running it on electric and see if the noise goes away after a couple of cycles. Jim

The noise was intermitant (sp) at first and was constant when I shut it down. We have been on propane for about a week now. I will try it back on electric when we can be here to monitor it.

Replacement elements are cheap and most hardware stores carry them. You will probably want to buy a thin walled socket to fit it. Keep the humming one as a spare.
It's worth a try at least.
