We are now in Wichita Falls Texas, I got the bright idea of trying a different route...We blew through Oklahoma City, they have the worst concrete slab roads, they dip, rise, dip, rise, makes me crazy!!!
We went South on I-44, as bad as Chicago, a toll booth every so many miles.
I guess we will be going over on 82 to Lubbock, then on to to Seminole, and over to Carlsbad N.M., and on to El Paso. Every day an adventure!
We are having 50-60 MPH wind gusts here now, 43 and raining, I'll check the weather, but we may have to stay the day here. Lonnie, I'll check and see if they need another tire store in town!!
The nice little camp ground doesn't have Internet, I guess I'm piggy backing on some camper here, because, here I am!!
Take care, Ozz

Colleen, I'll honk the air horns when we pass through Lubbock! Don't think we will get down your way this trip. Hope these winds are not getting to you guys down there. I'm just glad we aren't on the highway.
See ya! Ozz

Ozz, the way the wind is blowing here, I'm surprised we haven't already blown over there. My second new roof this year on the stick house, is scattered over about 5 acres, and the tumble weeds have all but wiped out the hotwire fence around the horse pasture. I just LOVE eastern NM and west Tx.,......NOT!!!
I sure am sorry you have to pull in this wind Ozz. Be careful cause there ain't much to slow it down in these parts, and it isn't uncommon to see the big rigs laying on their side in the ditch. The good news is, it's supposed to let up around noon. Good luck buddie.

Lonnie, It's Sue's birthday today, so we just may go into town and see if we can find some trouble to get into...
I'll try and find some shops for her. I'll stay until I get the urge to slit my wrists, then pull the plug on the shopping deal.
I think there is a Casino here somewhere, that may get interesting.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, sorry about the roof, it's us against the elements.
Speaking about those tumbleweeds, we were driving out of Amarillo and they were dancing all over the highways, we saw 5 or 6 of them bouncing down the highway, mamma's papas and little baby tumbleweeds, we laughed for the next 5 miles. Looked like they were headin' to town.
Later, Ozz

Ozz,

Well, the wind needs to blow real hard for me to hear those air horns when you go thru Lubbock.

Tell Sue Happy Birthday for me..... I am sure you can find her something in one of the stores. My brother used to own a restaurant in Wichita Falls called O'Phelans. Not sure if it is still open under different owners or not.

I would hate to be pulling a rig in this wind, not sure if you would be gaining any ground when traveling.

The invitation is open if you are ever in the area. We have enough room to park several rigs on our hill.

Lonnie,

Sorry about the roof that isn't good news.

Colleen

Well we are drawing close to being "on the Road again" I have that CD by the way.We will be leaving for our wintering adventure about the first or 2nd week of December (weather permitting) First stop Lake Havasu, Jan 1st. Hope we have covered all the bases. Had the 3400 out 4 times since delivery May 3rd for shakedown trips(about 2500 miles total) and nothing broke or fell off, all the major systems and appliances worked perfectly, no leaks, no squeaks, no jams. The Truck and camper combo (Mor-Ryde pinbox) pulls perfect. Have the autoformer and the W/D gets installed next week. Ordered the verison air card/Router, Etc.rear view Camera has been installed and works great. 3.5 inch freezer installed and checked out.Installed all new metal valve stems, Spare fuses for the front landing gear(pink wire) and the converter.Been going over this thing from stem to stern since we got it, Tie Wrapping, gorilla tapping, caulking, foam filling, wire re routing, Nailing, Tacking, cleaning, aligning, adjusting..all those things our Skilled old world craftsmen overlooked. Have a dedicated laptop for GPS..We are looking good..I think...For those that think RV,ing is a cheap hobby..Since Feb 05 with the purchase of the F-350, Hitch, Bedsaver, 06 3400, Auto formers, W/D, Extended Warranties, Back up cams, Video switches and the multitude of things that went into the caravan that is out in the driveway . We are pushing 80K.However it is our dream and worth every dollar. For those 5 or 6 year away from doing this just a idea of what you may need..In our case it was a 10 year planning process..and it worked. Be looking for you on the road...

Don't scare away the people that cannot afford 80K. You have some neat "add-ons" that are not necessary for RVing. Not criticizing here, just do not want to scare anyone. We have not spent near that much and feel we are okay. Some add ons can also come down the road in a few years. We've been RVing a long time and have never seen the need for an autoformer but we may get one before we start full timing. And so it goes with some of the other extras. Hope you have a great time at Lake Havasu. We've been there many times.
Happy trails.........................

Sounds like you're ready to go, Rich and Helen. Glad you got your Verizon aircard and router. Now we can only hope they'll work in Arizona. Our aircard has been great and it has freed us up to camp wherever we want to stay and still have a WiFi connection.....even Wally World! It pays for itself.

Glen(1 N) according to verison, and their maps, it will work I'm most area's..
you are correct about the 80k .will try again...05 F-350 dually, LB, CC lariat V-10 (diesel would be a lot more) stock no extra options. 06 3400, no high gloss, no dual pane windows, no aluminum wheels. Truck + Camper, including tax + the hitch since you got to have the hitch= 75K.(truck on X plan + money from the previous TV) The rest was stuff that we felt necessary but not needed to get started. This is not a low cost adventure..be prepared to spend some big bucks (75K is big bucks to us) Plan ahead..this was a 10 year plan for us..We were able to purchase everything outright, according to plan,(that worked of course)The last thing we wanted to do was to start retirement and hit the road deeply in debt. 75k is a lot of money but factored out over 10 years it can be managed..EX; I drove a bus part time for 6 of those 10 years and never grossed less than 15K per year.. "When you want something to happen bad enough you will find a way to make it happen"

Plan ahead..make it happen..
