5th wheel winter cover

Hello all! Need some advice for the best cover for our 5th wheel. Looking at reviews and they are not very good. We will need the 40' plus cover for our 3701LK.

I will recommend storing in a covered location vice using a cover. The covers don't always hold in the weather and are a PIA to put on and remove.

Unfortunately that's not an option. We store it at home and don't trust storage places. I feel better that it's right next to my house. We don't want to spend 400 bucks on a cover that won't last a season and that's all I'm finding.

Considered building a cover if that is an option at your home. Otherwise, recommend leaving it uncovered.

We tried to get a metal cover approved through our home owner's association but that got turned down real quick.

Have yet to see a cover deliver desired results. They either get torn up by the wind or do more damage rubbing against the 5'er. Mine has sat outside for 5 of the 13 years we have owned it. No worse for the wear. If I had to choose I'd leave it uncovered.

I'm thinking that we're just going to leave it uncovered. Give it a nice cleaning when we have a good day in the winter. Thank you all for the advice.

If you are looking for an alternative opinion, keep it uncovered. waste of time and money to get a cover.

Before we went full time we also never covered ours. Pretty rough weather and a good deal of snow and still no reason for a cover.

I'd try to find covered storage. There are lots of places not normally used for RV storage, but have space and will accommodate you. I've stored mine in a truck terminal and currently in a boat storage yard....20' x 50' covered with power.

We covered ours last winter, and this winter sold the cover, only covering the AC units. This is our 3rd RV and never covered the first two and never had issues. We're located in New England.

We started using a Calmark cover while living in AK. 6 years later and still in great shape along with the Monty. It's my personal choice to cover ours.

4 years and 2 campers on the Elements band we bought from CW. A bit of a pain at 40 ` but with the driving rains during late fall and the snow slowly melting on the top I would worry the whole time about a leak that developed that I didn`t see at year end inspection. Here in the North East I have never had the problems with them that others have. YMMV

Where I live the wind would beat the cover to death and rip to shreds in no time.

We get pretty high winds where we live way north of Reno. I think I'll worry more about the cover beating the hell out of the 5th wheel more than the elements. We don't usually get massive amounts of rain but we get snow. I truly appreciate all the input y'all!

There is your first mistake. Living somewhere that has a homeowners association. That's one of my first ? when looking for a house/property. If there is one, I will not even consider it.

You are lucky they let you store the trailer at home. I think most HOA,s don't allow that.

Even living in the "Sticks" you generally still have Zoning Boards and Rules and Regs that tell you what you can and can't do on your own property. Might not be as restrictive as an HOA, but still there.

Guess it is good we are not all alike. We have lived in an HOA neighborhood for the last 33 years I appreciate what the covenants have done in keeping the neighborhood nice and the property values up.

Our community has rv parking at their house. The reason why we went with the HOA is that my last place I lived didn't have one. And both of my neighbors had junk yards.

To each his own I guess. I completely understand wanting for your neighbors to be decent people that keep there property up and in good condition, but there is no way I'm going to let an HOA control what I do on my own property.

Lets see, living in an HOA community for 33 years paying $200+? a month for HOA fees =$79200. No thanks, I take that additional $$ in my settlement check when I sell.
