Good ideas Carol... I'll have to try that! I recently had to restring one of our shades because one of the strings broke. The company sent us new strings (although the paperwork indicates that the string should be all one piece... I received two.) It's not really hard and was a lot easier to do with a large yarn needle to thread the string through the holes.
If anyone else ever needs to rethread one of those shades... let me know if you need help. Getting the valance down was a real bear... but has to be done because the shades are not mounted the way the manufacturer recommends. They are screwed in! grrrr
