Ohio Turnpike RV parking

Spent last night at the Blue Heron Plaza for the first night of our third 'big vacation' (this time 12 weeks!). While the Ohio TP has four plazas with RV parking, this and the most westerly one are the only two we can cram our 38+' Monty and crew cab, long bed truck into a spot. Only electric, but there's a dump station. A little pricey at $20, but the convenience is super great. This is the fourth time we've used their parking (twice before was with a smaller TT). I'm surprised more aren't using them though. This AM there was only two others here; one hadn't put their slide out or hooked up for power and the other was hauling a large cargo trailer. We did see a really large Class A trundle through hauling a car behind, but they couldn't get into a spot unless they went sideways & covered four.

Wish there were more of these on turnpikes!

Agreed, we often use them on the way to and from the National Rally.

I sympathize with truck drivers - always having to find a place to park so they can eat or sleep. Years ago I heard a saying that if you want to find good eats, go where the truck drivers go. I know now that this is not true - truck drivers eat where they can find a place to park!

Yes, more big rig parking would be great, especially overnight parking. Many times we are on the road, just driving, eating and sleeping on the way to somewhere, and we just need a place to park overnight. We are so glad Walmart allows this kind of thing at many of their stores and we certainly do park there!

Newbie here - is it OK to stay hooked up and just drop landing gear without leveling to put slides out in this case?

We always put down the front jacks when we stay hooked up, and we make sure we are level side to side by finding a level spot in the parking lot.

With this new trailer we just bought and its auto level system, we may just level up.

We put both front and rear feet down & put out the slides. Their lots are all close to completely level.
