I am contemplating putting a set on my truck. Just wondering if it is worth it or not.
We have a 2010 dodge 3500 single wheel 4x4.
Montana 2013 285rld.
We have pulled about 2000 mi without the air bags, and the ride is not too bad.
We used to pull a holiday rambler savoy 28ft.

I would say that if your truck fender opening heights maintain the same level with the Montana hooked up or not, you don't need them.
I do have them but that's more for insurance than need.

Most of us install airbags because of rear spring drop under weight, not for improved ride. If you have no problem with rear drop under hitch, I would not bother with airbags. Other factor for me was because I had transmission shudder at times under load, because the rear end drop was putting stress on my two piece/support bearing driveshaft.

poloace ... I have to agree with Mike ... air bag use is more to help level the TV/Trailer combo not to improve the ride. That being said ... air bags do help smooth out the suspension reaction to bumps. I don't agree with some who want to use air bags to maintain the unloaded fender to tire clearance. My truck naturally sits a bit rear end high unloaded ... I use enough air to level the hookup not to return the trucks fender clearance to the unloaded measurement.

I have a 2010 dodge 3500 diesel 4x4 Laramie. Srw. Camper package, plow prep package. I'm pulling a 2010 montana 3615re. Just changed out my mor/ride pin box with a trailair tri-glide pin box. Put air center points on trailer. My ride is terrible. My in truck hitch since 2010 is a draw-tite signiture series slider. Get a lot of chucking and bounce. Especially over bridges. When hooked up truck settles about 2 inches. I am close to getting the trailer level but am still a little nose high. Truck hitch is as low as I can go. Ride is stiff, bouncy, and jolting when going over bridges or pot holes. Was thinking about air bags for truck but that will make trailer really nose high. Any suggestions?

We added the air bags to keep our F250 from bottoming out on bad bumps. (295RKD)It indeed has accomplished this as well as added more cushion with the bad bumps. We have the in board pump so we can adjust it based on trailer load and truck drop when loaded. My wife was reluctant to spend the money but she now feels safer more level and agrees that it eliminated 50% of the vertical harshness. It takes a big load off the springs as well which should extend the life of the suspension. If you have the money, it is worth it.

Been pricing air bags. Truckspring.com has both Firestone and Air Lift.

I can get a set of Air Lift for $269 minus a $50 rebate so out the door with free freight is $219.60 delivered.

Any one know of anything wrong using Air Lift over Firestone's?

Jim

I've used both over the years ... they both work well and have good instructions.
Essy ... without a hitch ... air bags won't accomplish anything yet.
