winter camping

WE are looking to go winter camping in are 2011 Montana 3000rk, looking for some info for the cold weather. we have been caught a couple time for a day or two in the cold but not weeks at a time.

The temperature your dealing with and the winds would be needed to really give you an answer. Since we full time we frequently are in below freezing weather in the winter. We use our heat pump until it gets in the low 30's and then switch to the furnace to keep the pipes warm. We've been doing it since 2010 and so far that's all we've done. If it was going to be lower than the teens we would probably move, however.

Thanks DQDICK, We have been told nights as low as the 20's, days in the 40's winds around 15-20, with some snow.

In that situation we have run the furnace at night always. Electric heaters are fine for the 40 degree part, but below freezing needs the furnace.

I keep onboard - two small electric heaters (Vornado & Intertek), in addition to my electric fireplace heater; a Pirit heated hose; a 6' electric cable; foam insulation sleeve (2" hole); heat tape; Big Buddy propane heater (dual tank) w/20lb tank and hose; two 250W Soleil heaters for the cargo/convenience area; 30 pint dehumidifier, and RVskirting. I also use hydrometers and outdoor thermometers in my convenience area and underneath the rig (back slide area) which can be monitored from inside. As mentioned, I utilize the furnace to warm pipes, tanks, etc, as needed. I like to set my main living area thermostat at 45-50 degrees and close my bedroom door and use the Vornado, when I go to bed.

Or, as mentioned, just head to warm weather, lol.
