New second home

I guess I’ve been here for a year already. Not sure if I ever said hello. We’re in Michigan and have purchased our first 5th wheel-used. We have done a tiny bit a traveling in it but it primarily stays parked on our summer lot or at our house in the winter.

I’m just starting to learn my way around the unit. Have recoated main roof, cleaned air conditioner and Fantastic fan but really am clueless.

Can anyone here point me in the direction of guidance for maintenance issues?

Thanks for hosting here and for any assistance.

Welcome to the forums and glad you finally made yourself known. Congrats (a year late) on getting your camper. The more you use it, the more you'll love it.

About maintenance? The internet is chocked full of web sites of how to do just about anything with any type of RV. They are all basically the same (in essence). Roof, walls, floor, trailer frame, suspension, wheels. They all have electrical systems, household AC and battery DC. They all have water lines and at least 2 different ways to have water: hook up with a garden hose and leave the hose turned on, or fill your fresh water tank and run your on-board water pump. They all have heat, furnaces, some have air conditioners with built in heat pumps, and electric fire places. Things run on gas or electric, on electric some appliances require both DC electricity to run the electronics and propane to run the main component (like RV gas absorption refrigerators). Some have residential refrigerators, some have RV gas-electric-battery run refrigerators. Many newer models are switching over to all battery run refrigerators.

All of them have these things in common, so any internet search will produce a myriad of resources. Youtube.com (videos) is a great place. Bring it up on your web browser and in the search type in just about anyting. Say for example: RV furnace maintenance, or RV winterizing, or RV cable slide repair. Anything like this and you'll have a storehouse of information.

Then of course, ask your questions on this forum too. There are lots and lots of very, very knowledgeable folks with experience and first hand trial and error work around, repairs, and tips on anything you can think of. We've all "been there and done that." Nothing new under the sun, so feel free to ask away your specific question right here on these forums and stand back and watch the magic!

Again, welcome and glad you are here. Don't be shy, please feel free to share your experiences and knowledge too. We're all in this together and we all can help each other. That's just who we are here.
