Hey Ron have you forgotten the 12V charge line pin (#4) is always hot? It is a direct line to the battery and lacking the 13+V charge from the TV's alternator, the battery fills the void and also energizes the break away circuit. Let that puppy (pin #4) connect with one of the pin box bolts and you will know it!

There is 12V on battery pin when unhooked. It could possibly ground out. I haven't had it happen in last 4 years

We have a Velcro strap on the back of the pin box. Just loop the cable and wrap the Velcro around it. We did store inside the box until we had to do the bird block, also. JT.

If youre not careful, the connector can contact metal inside the pinbox. If tab #4 on the trailer connector shown below contacts any metal on the pinbox, you have a short to ground.

OOOPS! Forgot about that #4 pin! I think I'll find an old tennis ball, cut it and slip it over the end of the umbilical cord OR maybe I can find that holder I've got somewhere that holds the cord end when unhooked. I now bow to those with a better memory than I have! LOL

I use one of these and stick the cord in the back of the pin box.

That is what I was looking for when I wrote my earlier post. That will definitely protect from accidentally grounding Pin #4.

Good find!!
